does the 2000 physically change to the code when you enter it? what button are you then pressing?

Oh sorry after I have put the printout code in from last driver I have tried pressing bascally every button and holding them and nothing happens. Can't even turn power on or off.
Take the keys out of the ignition and then press the stereo on, lock the car and go and have a cup of tea.
Come back an hour later then input the code and then press the prg button until it beeps and then the stereo turns on.

Ok I will give it a go. With the keys out, I'm not sure if I will be able to power the radio ON...... !!!

I've tried that, and it wouldn't turn on, left it locked and left it an hour and still in safe, 2000

The radio, after leaving for an hour to reset itself, shows 2000. Following the guides here (and the one in the radio handbook), upon entering the code and pressing PROG it flashes SAFE then returns to 2000. So I enter the code again and then it stays at SAFE. Leave on for an hour and it goes back to 2000 to allow me to try again. Very very annoying.

Are you sure you have the correct code?
I just hold the PTY/PROG key when i have entered mine and it beeps and switches on.

No, I can't be sure. It is the code that is in my radio handbook. Interestingly, the radio code & radio serial number have been printed onto a label and stuck into the book. That certainly gives me the impression it's from the dealer. But, it may well not be the correct code for the radio. I haven't taken the radio out to see if the serial numbers match up though.
I'm off to SERE later today to collect a few bits from Dave, and hopefully he'll, or a member of the team, will take a look for me and see what they think.

Done that for 2 mins. Had Dave from SERE over here in Belfast to have a look too just to make sure I'm not being a twat. He couldn't get it to work either. New HU it is...You have to HOLD the prog button after you put the code in...
afaik the battery has been disconnected before and the code worked last time. Now it seems the HU is fecked. tbh it's a good excuse to get one that I can connect my mp3 player too. Any suggestions btw? Not interested in a super-duper dogs b0ll0x one. Just comparable to standard is fine with an AUX in.

im having the same problem!!! only thing is i cant leave the radio when the car is off as it does not turn on unless the car is on. ive tried countless times to turn it on when car is off but to no avail!!! ANY IDEAS. v stressed now lol

i did leave the car on for a couple of hours with the radio on and nothing happened. not sure what else to try to get it to reset!!!

I left the car locked and stereo on with the safe on screen and after an hour I got to put the right code in and all was fine.
