Yours did look the dogs mate, the first one I saw that made me think 'My car could actually look that good!' Thanks for that mate, I bet the 1600 diesel loves the motorway, eh? Plus the fuel consumption is probably up in the 60's.. I didnt think about the cupra spoiler actually, is it bigger than the std one?

Thanks dude..

Cheers! - I have similar plans for this one - so hopefully it will be at a similar standard eventually. Looks a bit too bog standard at the moment.

It is great on the motorway - and with cruise control the journeys fly by. On the motorway it averages about 55mpg, highest I've ever got its about 64mpg, but that was by driving like a granny. Only got 3500miles on it so plenty to time to let it loosen up still.

Cupra spoiler is the same as standard but a bit bigger, it's very subtle but I found it made a big difference to the back of the car.

At least the mk3's came with a spoiler though - had to pay £88 for the one for the mk5 -and I still need to get it sprayed - so that'll be more money :(

Howdy Mark.. If your new one looks anything like mk3, it will be good.. It kills me, but your Mk5 is going to look so much better than the mk3.. Everything newer and stuff..

55mpg on the motorway!! Damn, is that travelling at 55mph? :cartman: I tend to drive behind trucks on the inside lane lmao!! It saves loads of fuel...so its better than a mate of mine in his megane that is in the petrol station every other hour!!

I got paid the other day, so I will be spending pretty much all of my wages on my car.. All £250 of it lol, being at college, its hard to save!!! Do you have a picture up of your spoiler mate? £88 is quite steep!! But it must look impressive!!

I wish I had the money mate, I'm quickly eating into my monthly wage, Only working on saturdays, and being at college through the week, my funds are running low!! I only need some decent wheels, then both of the most expensive things are out of the way :)

Small update.. This was my fault, I had my mates in the car and I was turning round in the narrowest road you can think of.. After about 4 attempts, I got fed up and put my handbrake on, Put it in first and spun the wheels.. I was expecting the car to turn in its own length.. How wrong was I.. The car jumped forward and before I could even slam on, I heard.. *Crack!!*.. I got out to check the damage, and this is what I found...

Damn :( I think most of us have done stuff like that but kept it quiet :)

It doesn't look too bad though and nice car, it seems in good nick and must be one of the last MK3'S made?

Haha!! Yeah, I was going to make up a stupid story of how it happened, but on here you cant really lie.. Hopefully, no more than £60 to put right. Any more, and it would seem to be a very expensive 3point turn.

Okay, so recently I left college with my business levels. And trying to find a job was a joke. Then, my sister said a job was going at her place... Full time at a Call Centre. It puts some money in the bank for mods and other stuff. So, I just thought, with me getting a new job with good pay. Watch this space!! The modding begins from now :)

I did buy some B pillar vinyl off David at Sere Motors. But I think I bought the wrong one, the one I bought only come with 1 piece for the door, but not a piece for the rear window. That is the best to describe it. I think I need to buy some Cupra ones, and trap the vinyl underneath the rear window rubber. I didnt know that cupra windows opened.. :)

I still havent picked up my front springs, due to me being a very busy boy during the last few weeks. So hopefully, once I pick them up, i can get my brother to fit them for me.

BRING ON THE MODDING!!!!! :) :) :) :)

Right! Modding. 1stly, get that bumper cut out and cut and sprayed so it matches the rest of the front. Get some Bi-xenons for the headlights :) you'll find visibility much better at night. possibly smooth your bump strips. aero wipers on the front (flebay, got mine for £8 IIRC and they're top quality) Golf mk5/Skoda Fabia/dewiper the back.

As for your post on alloys, SuperT's are hard to come by, but standard cupra's are even rarer! Our cars suit the 'multispoke' look, aftermarket 5 spokes make them look a wee bit chavvy IMO. Any help?

Well done on the car mind, you've done really well to get it in such a tidy shape!

Cheers dude, If it gets to look anything like yours, then I will be very happy. I may buy a new bumper, because mine is stonechipped to hell, and its knackered where I bumped it. So, that will need to be resprayed anyway, I will then cut the front splitter, just like you guys have, and maybe, just maybe I will smooth the front.. Aero wipers are a must, because at 80mph mine flap about like hell.. In dont know why, but I want a cupra backbox, the oval one.. I'll update the full list later on when I get home.

Cheers for the info buddy.. I cant wait until I walk upto my car in a carpark and smile because of how it looks..

Cheers dude! I like it.. I'm not sure about the gaping whole in the front.. I'm a bit warey about the rad. But a bit of Mesh would solve that :) How did you do the splitter? Did you take it off and cut it?
Thanks again Owen..

Yup, 2 screws in either wheelarch, then get underneath and unclip the annoying clips that hold it to the rest of the bumper, get a sharp knife, cut the holes out, scoring it first (I took 4 goes round each edge to get it ;) ) then its up to you what you do from there. 1st time I colour coded it, I got filler primer from halfrauds, put a couple of coats on, sanded it to a smooth finish then put the paint and laquer on top. 2nd time I attacked the bumper with a coarser grit 1st, meaning that although I still had to use filler primer, the finish was much better.

Hope this helps.
