Sorry to bring this up again but did anyone ever find out if you can definitely turn this off via VAG COM or whatever its called?

I've tried plugging VCDS (the new name for the VAG COM software) into the car, but unfortunately most of the components are not recognised at the moment, so you don't know what options you can turn on/off. A few components are recognised, but I didn't see anything that could be linked to the cornering lights.

Hopefully in a future version they will have worked things out, but we're out of luck right now.

obviously it can be done, by changing the coding. long process but i think it is worth doing. i cant stand the fogs coming on when cornering. looks crap.

and the comment about blinding people if they come on and the light shining too high, you are completely wrong because fog lights are meant to aim higher to break through the FOG. hence why a cornering light as a fog isnt a good idea in my opinion.

Its nothing to do with VCDS, the dealer equipment cant turn them off either, its not an option in the control unit itself.

so what you are saying is that by using VCDS there is no way to recode the system to make it deactivate the cornering lights?

bit of a long shot to throw in 'but' rather than looking at turning it off why not look at how other vehicles have it turned on ??

found a guide for Octavia to enable the function via the Central Electronics Controller and ye i know its a real long shot but some comparison and backwards engineering in the long coding may make it worth a look no ?

at the least it will narrow down where to look ?

here ya go techie ;)

The octavia electrical system is the same as the Leon. On the Leon the same long coding is an option. The ibiza uses a different system to the leon. I was coding a control unit the other day and the only option was front fogs yes or no, once fogs are coded the corner lighting is activivated. I'll email technical when I get five mins.

LOL, ok then, where did you have it done L99ROS as I wanna book my car in there to have that turned off. I really honestly do NOT need cornering fogs living in London and there is nothing wrong with my eyes either. Fortunately I am not in the habit of using the road as a race track and trying to make the racing line over kerbs................

all im saying is that it can be done on the vas5051b and like one of the guys said earlier in the forum you have to make a simple change to the coding on one of the bites, it litterally takes 30 secs..

i aint posting the code as some clever people think it cant be done(which have probs never seen a vas5051b computer and if he has obvs doesnt know how to use it) bring your car up to newcastle ill do it for u

they can have there cars looking like they have a fog light out all the time and it winking when you turn the wheel hahahaahaha
