Front Suspension Bushes

I need to fit new new front lower wishbone bushes to my PD130 as they are shot! I'm going to fit the Cupra versions as from what I have read they are much better. Is it a job you can do yourself? Will I need any special tools to get the bushes in or out?

TBH.. i found it a pig. The old ones are easy to get out.. The new ones need to be pulled in with a puller. I had to make up a tool with a bit of threaded bar and plenty repair washes and nuts to pull it through. Then the arm has to be levered into place. It will NOT hit into place with a hammer, i found out the hard way and knackered a bottom arm trying to do it.. They have to be pushed in with a lever bar. My only advise is use plenty of grease and alot of patience..

Ok thanks glad I asked! I'll probably give this one a miss and let Seat to do it - although I have a bit of patience my girlfriend hasn't! LOL

I suppose its slightly more cost effective in that the bushes can be replaced, I know on some cars you end up replacing the complete arm...

Try a Vag specialist. they are usually alot cheaper than Seat..

Finally getting round to doing my front lower arm bushes...just contacted the stealer and he reckons £75 for each side (parts only). This sounds really pricey to me as from what I have read other people have paid much less - I'm not entirely sure he's even quoted the right part?

Bit of a punt but does anyone know what parts I will need to furnish both sides of the arm and the part numbers??

The stealer is taking the pi** to put it mildly.

Cupra bushes are less than £20 a pair. ( Thats £10 per side ) - if the price quoted is not fitted - walk away.

Tbh despite quoting the chassis number (and all the rest of it) I dont think the bloke really knew the car or what I was on about

I'll search that thread now and try a different stealer.

Sorted...complete set of front arm bushes from Awesome GTi's for £54 all in. I'm not complaining! Can't wait to get them fitted and the car tracked up, will sort out my high speed cornering no end

i did it myself for about £60 including front powerflex bush and rear cupra bushes!
if you go to b&q and buy the bolts and they sell large square metal plates to pull the bush in as per guide

I had my front wishbone cupra bushes, new OEM ARB and replacement bushes for that done by Quartz Bodyshop in newbury, the guy used to be the master techician for Seat Newbury. it cost 230 quid inclusive of labour

Handling is so much more pleasant, corners flat and mid corner bumps don't unsettle it any more

and i used fairy liquid!

just look at the guide!
jack up one side wheel off three bolt on wishbone arm to hub, one bolt into the subframe and its out!!
hacksaw blade to cut out old bush doesnt take long then the fiddly bit pressing the new bush in, with your bits from b&q it should be no prob just take your time with this bit, one of mine was really easy the next was a bit of a pain
