This has been covered many many times mate. The 1.8T runs a metered air system that is designed to have a recirculating (non whooshy) diverter valve, ie. it dumps boost air from the charge pipe back to the turbo intake pipe on the intake side of the system instead of out to the atmosphere. Running an atmospheric dump valve like a Bailey will make the system think that you have an air leak and it won't be happy.

If you want more dump noise, fit an open cone induction kit or a cold air induction kit. I have a Carbonio CAI and the Forge 007P sounds almost as loud as a Jap atmospheric dump valve through it. I've fitted the valve in reverse and it gives a nice loud chiiiiiiiiiiirp.

No problem Sam. There's lots of stuff there on it, you just have to wade through about 100 threads to get the full jist of it. I'm no expert but like to help if I can.

take your bonnet lining off to hear it more, also do you run oem airbox.. if so run open cone induction and it will be louder as the boost recircs through the open cone

You can get a recirculating bailey if you want to, not much different to forge though. Some have said that the bailey is louder than the forge, but as they both do same job i dont see how, getting a cone filter will make it much louder.
