Went to overtake some old biddy going 20mph in a 60

Anyway, was in second gear and put foot down and as reached about 3000 - 3500revs there was an odd crunching noise? The kind of noise which happens when don't depress clutch and change gear. But I wasn't in the process of changing gear or anything, but it felt like I was if that makes sense?? I changed up and everything was fine.

This is the first and only time this has ever happened, and I've tried to repeat the same situation and hasn't happened again.

Is this anything to be worried about???

(oh, and it's a tdi, so 3500 revs is fairly high-ish with the red line about 4500 if I remember correctly)

Stop eating biscuits while you're driving?

Sorry couldnt help myself! Doesn't sound too good to be honest, I take it it actually stayed in gear then and the noise wasnt it hopping out of gear? sometimes I get it when trying to select a gear, if I only put the lever halfway into place, it grinds and hops back out... wasnt that sort of thing no?

Doesn't sound too healthy to be honest, noises like that always make me cringe on the cars behalf!

Lol! I wish it was just biscuit noise!!!

Yeah it stayed in gear, and as soon as heard noise I changed to 3rd and all was fine. Happened about a week ago, and I keep 'testing' the second gear to see if it will do the same, but nothing.

I'm hoping it was just a one off?

Yeah I always do that cringe thing when I hear a wrong noise, or like the other week I had to park in a field and just heard everything underneath being scraped along the ground :headhurt:
