:) well the button is there it just lights up red with everything else when i press it i get no orange light and i have never seen a flashing light on the dash to let me know its working - i defo have a 2001 "proper" cupra :) full leather climate control annoying wipers that randomly speed up and slow down dimming mirror etc but this esp i wasn't sure about i guess it just ain't working :(

i found that the ESP in my x reg leon was not very intrusive at all, and that the traction control was excellent in that it also wasnt very intrusive and did allow some slip. I cant remember the last time the ESP activated.
Whereas in the LCR is very intrusive and the traction control is the same.

I suspect that early cupras may of had an esp system more along the lines of audi 's' models with a more sporty set up.

You say you have never got it to flash on the dash, - what happens if you spin the front wheels? as it should flash just for traction control activation.
better trying this first before you go mad and try to get the ESP to kick in :)

Jabba upgraded my tc/esp to the version on the A3 quattro when they fitted the turbo, tends to make it smoother when it activates.

I had no problems with the stock esp but if people are really struggling maybe its worth ringing them.

If i floor it on gravel which i thought would be the best way to test they just kept spinning no lights on the dash - also tried it on damp tarmac and span for a laugh for about 10 yds before i actually got a grip again no lights on the dash
