will most likely be replacing the R's brake pads before it goes for an MOT, so just looking for pads for everyday use as its only doing the daily commute at the moment and the occasional trip back to Scotland and something that ain't going to break the bank, so DS2500's are out of the question.

really not too sure whats out there for brembo calipers (mintex, EBC, etc?) so any recommendations welcome.

Cheers folks

Pretty sure i'd rather have standard pads over anything EBC make, green stuff pads are shocking. Took my old ones off after about a month.

That was the point i was trying to make without slagging EBC, shocking when cold.

I have the standards on now and they are good for what i need just now.

Cheers folks, have to say im not a big EBC fan myself, had them on my 106GTI and they were really poor.

Anyway, this might sound a stupid question but wheres the best place to get standards? stealers or is a motor factors job?

Anyone managed to find standard brembo pads for sale anywhere other than stealers? EPC dont list any on their website and i went into the shop and they couldnt find any for Ibiza Cupra R and just kept trying to sell me the Leon ones which I dont think are the same.

If you could possibly stretch to it, then go for the DS2500s, great pads all round the heat range - they also last longer than standard pads I find - maybe that is enough to justify the extra cost?

The pads on my Brembos when I purchased the car where shocking, I would get bad brake fade after 3 minutes of spirited driving! - they could have been standard, but where unmarked, so I dont know for sure.

If your only going to be doing normal driving then standard pads will suffice - not sure how much they are from the dealers.

Stay away from EBC.

Cheers for the replies guys. ds2500s are above budget im afraid (

Just read on another thread that the leon cupra r pads will fit the ibiza brembo calipers but you just need to remove the wear sensor, anyone know if this is the case? If so i can buy a set of these from Euro car parts for £25.

I know the piston sizes are the same on these callipers, worth a try for £25, but having studied callipers on both cars almost certain they will fit.

they will fit yes... but £25 pads? jeez... why bother with decent brakes like brembos and stick cheap **** pads in there..

Haha good point. Well my brembos havent been right since i bought the car, the standard brakes on my mates passat are better to be honest! I've bled the system a few times but they are still pants. I have Greenstuff pads in there at the mo which everyone agrees are useless, I just figured standard pads wouldnt make it any worse than it already is!! Plus i cant afford ds2500's.

Greg,

I understand your point about the cost of the DS2500's, but i'd say there isnt anything as important as coming to a stop! I have Brembos and bought the DS2500's from Bill along with some Braided hoses and Motul Fluid.

The Difference over standard/Rubbish pads was Night and Day.

I'd start saving. You wont be disappointed.

Best,

Michael

Greg,

it took me 2 sets of pads but i got TWR Lucas ones from my local motor factors, the code for the pads is: GDB1513. It says on the box they're for a Jag XK, but they are the correct ones.

They aren't bad pads, defo better than other pads ive had anyway and if your on a budget and they car is your daily drive, then you'll be sound.

Small tip tho, Don't buy the OMP pads from e-bay, even tho on the box they say they are for an ibiza with brembos, they don't fit right and i ended up getting one stuck in the caliper.
