Poor MPG After Revo Stage 1 PD 130

Just had a stage 1 Revo software installed to my car on Saturday

Travelled 4 60 mile journeys and could easily see 60mpg while sitting at 60mph. Although after the remap I only seem to be getting 53mpg at the most on the same journeys?

Is there anything that could be causing this poor mpg? Such as sensors etc? No EML light on though. I did try resetting the mpg computer incase it had been affected at all, and just filled the tank again today and reset the trip computer

Not too bothered about the drop in mpg but just found it strange how everyone else gets the same, if not better mpg after the remap (obviously on economical drives and not enjoying the map :funk:) and wondered if there could be a cause

Thanks

Martin

you typicaly have to wait a few weeks for everything to return to normal once everthing gets used to the new settings and then you'll see the same if not better results.

I did think that may be the cause for everything to adjust, forgot to mention that in my post. Covered 370 miles of main road driving so far. And as soon as the car was mapped I went and drove 60 miles then 120 again at night

With mine, I noticed about 1mpg difference on the motorways after Revo went on. I cruise at 80-90 so 48-50mpg is my norm on those roads but its not very hilly round here so its fairly constant speed and throttle. At 70-75mph, I'd get around the 60mpg mark. (those figures are before the Milltek and downpipe went in which has reduced mpg by about 5 or 6.)

The diesels do achieve a lot of their performance through burning additional fuel and peak torque is at fairly low revs (2800rpm on my standard Revo map). Revo does increase that peak torque, and maybe you are driving in that zone on the fueling map that matches the area where the torque increase is achieved, hence your drop in mpg as more fuel is being chucked in. Just a theory.

If you are overfuelling in any major way, you will get lots of smoke out the back (a proper black fog!).

Generally im changing gear at around 2k

And when crusing at 60mph im sitting on 2k or slightly below (I think)

Got Millers at home which I haven't used for a while and il throw some in this weekend. Oil is fine, not noticed any smoke (more than usual) and service isnt due for another 5k (40k service)

Is it worth checking for faults with vag com?

Forgot to mention haven't got vag com but can get access to it

Is there an option on screen for scanning for fault codes or is it under another name or how do I go about it?

There is an autoscan option. It goes into a list of controllers and creates a log. It will try to access some controllers that may not exist depending on options etc fitted to the car.

Without any hint of sarcasm, I'd say you weren't going fast enough. Our Ibiza FR TDI is crap for mpg in top at around 60mph, but 50-ish and 75+ it's OK.

Just after out Revo, I saw 30mpg on my 50 mile return journey down the M6 and M61.

It settled down quite quickly, we now average 48mpg on mainly urban 30mph roads and hit low 50s on a good run doing 80. I can't say I've noticed an improvement, but certainly no penalty in mpg.

Scanned using VAG COM and no fault codes found. Still struggling to get 50 mpg on a 60 mile cruise at 60 mph and thats 3 weeks and roughly 1000miles covered since the remap
