Surely you need the weight now otherwise you will lessen the traction? Doubt you need it to be faster?

In the absence of weight pure mechanical grip will take over.
With KW clubsports and R888's handling will be imense
with this amount of grunt tractgion will always be a problem, an educated right foot will solve this

or haldex ;)

but I guess that would just add weight eh willie?

Hay you you cheeky wee scamp :cartman:

Why did the MK2 focus RS not come with 4WD?
It was a weight disadvantage and didn't benefit the traction enough to make it worth while.
A good driver in a well set up high powered FWD car will walk away from a bad driver in a well set up high powered 4WD car.

Take the EVO magazine report on the MK2 TT and the MK2 LC, the LC was something like 0.2 secs slower a lap than the MK2 TT, with better suspension, tyres and having been set up better for pure handling the LC would walk away from the TT

I take your point Willie :)

However The problem with stripping hatches like Leon is most of the weight is removed from the rear so I think it may unbalance things. I am no expert however so just going on what I been told/read and experimentation with my car.

I did find initially when all the weight was removed over the back wheels it was feeling like it wanted to swap ends under hard braking. I adjusted the tyre pressure down 3 PSI and the balance is fully restored again. I have MASSIVE confidence in my cars handling now

Thats why if you have coilovers you get them corner weighted set up.... this will balance the weight around the car by altering the height of each coilover untill the weight is shared around each corner equally!

Transforms the handling!

I agree with Dave.

I've had mine corner weighted and another thing I did ages ago was moved the battery to the back plus my water meth kit. I went for the standard battery that works as ballast at the back.

What I would advise anyone who wants to move there battery to the back is if your planning on getting your car corner weighted then do this when its being setup. For some weird reason you might find that the right rear is heavier than the left and in this case before welding a battery bracket at the back you can do this do when the cars on the scales by doing this you will get a good balance at the rear.

Willie I know you opted to have your battery by the co-drivers side but in my case I can tell you that its worked out quite well and the guys who did the corner weights were quite impressed. Another thing, the setting for V3's at the back is 3clicks and same for the front. Car does not bounce at all. But with time as the suspension settles down I may need to increase the rebound settings.

Highly spec'd. I really like the engine bay suprisingly, never thought that would work but looks real good.
