Weird knock!

Hey i am just wondering if anyone knew what has gone on my car!

it makes a clunking noise when is accelerate and braking and occasionally when i am turning!

anti roll bar bushes mayb?

id guess top mount bushes maybe even lower arm bushes.

I have a facelift FR tdi! my mechanic has taken my car for a drive and said its either the top mount or lower arm bushes!

wat is the best replacement for both?

i might be wrong but i think you can replace the lower arm bushes with cupra solid bushes and awesome gti sell them. top mount bushes will have to just be replacement standard top mounts.

he said its under acceleration and braking you could still be right but top mounts and lower arms are more likely id say.

My lower arm bushes need replacement but i get no knocking from acceleration or braking....

as i said it could still be a cv joint most bushes top mounts cv joints all make very similar sounds but some are louder than others and make different pitch sounds so its impossible to diagnose online without hearing or feeling it for yourself,reading off a website is never going to diagnose a problem with bushes etc.

yeah not trying to get into an argument, just personally always known such a knock to be a cv joint first...

the front wishbone bushes need to be replaced wit tdi bushes as these are solid unlike the rubbish standard items. i got mine from Seat for £10 each. buy genuine ones only

Mine has similar, but more of a knock and squeak. My car has only done 16k and still under warranty.

It's getting louder over time. Plus now if I turn my steering full lock and the ground level changes (say getting onto my drive!) it makes a horrible grinding noise! Sounds like the wheel is rubbing on metal.

Gonna get this checked out soon. Any idea's? Same thing maybe?

well the wishbone bushes squeak at first, then start knocking over bumps. they are a poor design and you can see why they fail. if you look under the car and look at the bush, you will see what condition they are in.
