oil catch tank, please help

hi everyone, basically i have just purchased an oil catch tank and want to fit it to my lcr, i really dont understand what i have to do from what i have read, can anyone clear up for me exactly what i need to buy and how to fit it, it has 2 12mm inlets and a little clear tube runnig up the side for about 2 inches, there doesnt seem to be any baffles.....please help!!!

To catch any shifty oil and reduce the amount into the intake

Depends how you want to do it...The easiest route is to distisconect the breather from your inlet elbow and plumb that into you catch tank, whilst blocking off teh hole in the inlet.

Have you got anymore info....doesn't make that much sense to me....any pics would b usefull. What's this all abut filling the catch tank with scouring pads or summit?

if your catch tank is one that you can remove the top, then i would suggest popping down to your local supermarket and buying some stainless steel scouring pads.
I did this and put them in the tank to act as a baffle.
Works perfect!

Put "catch tank" in to the search box and loads of info will be there for you to look at. ;)

What are the benfits to a catch tank too, to add to this :)

I have rearched but everything seems alittle vauge,1 pipe goes from the catch tank to the side of rockeq cover,the other goes to the tip,that simple?block any others off?

Have a look at THIS Page 4 has some good pic's and post #79 has a good pic of where the pipe goes into the block. The pipe work from one of the inlets on the catch tank goes to the tip, the other one needs to have a"T" piece put in it one goes to the rocker cover the other goes to the pipe in the block, (pic #79) follow the instructions i posted further down, if any of the pipe work goes to the inlet manifold this needs to be capped except the one that comes out of the end of the manifold and bends around the charge pipe hose do NOT cap this off its the brake hose.
 
Have a look at this catch can diy link from a poster on vwvortex, I am in the process of gathering the info and parts to complete a catch can install myself after seeing the amount of crud that collects from the pcv and intake system also trying to find out a little more into why the system is set up like this in the first place and is there any deterementle effects to erradercating this crud from the system! I can't see any probs I think the more foreign bodys and nasty substenses you can stop before they reach the intake tract the better you don't want that gunk flying around on there I suppose, anyway!! One thing to point out is you must make sure that the catch tank you select is a sealed air tight unit when connected because the pipework works on a vacuum to circulate and thus fill the catch tank with goo!

Many people are fitting the sachiomuchi jobby not sure how it's spelt but you will find reference to it by searching "1.8t catch tank" in google.

Apologies for the thread Jack, but I hope it makes it a bit clearer, or answers a couple of queries.

1. we need 19mm fittings for a catch tank installation? Not 14mm?

2. The Pipework should go like this?

separate at the disc assembly (PCV?) and reroute to the catch tank? Almost like a Bypass? Or is there more to it?
