boost pressure problem....please help

afternoon all

just been to get my car on vag com because ive noticed that sometimes my turbo just doesnt seem to be working.

got the following code

17705: pressure drop between turbo and throttle valve. p1297. intermitent.

does anyone know what the problem could be with coz the garage doesnt seem to know (or doesnt want to tell me as its under waranty with them).

sorry my car it a 2001 leon cupra totally standard (180 bhp)

boost leak mate, could be a pipe popped off, the dumpvalve could be goosed, or an hole in a pipe somewhere, simply needs a pressure/smoke test to find it

if it was a boost leak would it not be there all the time and not be intermitent

i dont know im new to this

not always, assometime you need max boost to blow the hole lol, my bet the dv, if its stadard its prob failed, most do,

people upgrade to a forge 007p there about £70 from us

yeah the dv is standard and my guess is its the original so its 9 years old.

do you think its worth replacing that?

hope its as simple as that and not a hole in a pipe coz i havnt a clue where to start looking

hopefully, but like i say a smoke test will say for sure, but upgrading the dv is always a good thing too

I would love to do a smoke test on my system but I'm not sure if i can do that on my own. I need to find a garage that does this.

I had this error recently, got a forge service kit for my DV007p, problem solved.Also if a boost pipe was off you would now straight away.For smaller leaks under high boost, these are a pain to diagnose/fix, pressure test should do it though.

BTW i wonder does the leak test for the forge DV work on the OEM DV, same concept i would have thought.

this is the way you can test a Forge DV, not sure if it works on the OEM DV, but worth a shot.

Use a pen and push the piston of the valve upwards against the
spring to ensure that it moves without restriction.
Then with the piston pushed fully up, ie with the spring
compressed, place your finger over the top nipple to form a
seal.
Now remove the pen, keeping your finger in place. The
piston should remain in place until you remove your finger
from the nipple, at which point the piston will travel back.

Is this a new version of english, i lost what you were tyring to say halfway through your post.!

How do you know its only running 233bhp? Did you log the ECU, there could be a number of reasons for being down 20bhp.

The DV connection from the TIP to the charge turbo charge pipe, if you have a remap it is also recommended to up grade this component.

P.S start a new thread and i am sure you will get some more help.

i think my mk1 might have a boost leak, when my foot is pressed gentley against the accelerator before boost i get a slight loss of power and then the power comes back. is this a symptom as well?
