has anybody managed to tint there plastic head light covers on there cupra yet and if so what spray and where to buy or any picsof your handy work

havent heard of doing that to be honest, wont that do away with the brightness of your headlights or am i just being a pap
i jus did this on sunday how random! did the headlights, side repeaters, tail lights, third brake light and rear S badge.
I took loads of pics and was planning on doing a guide at somepoint (unless one exists?) but tbh its really straight forward and difficult to get wrong.
1 mask off area around light with lots of newspaper and masking tape, you want a big area masked in case of wind carrying the tint spray onto your paintwork (dont worry if it happens, read on)
2 carefully mask all around the light, get the tape under/behind the light to make sure its perfect, this bit takes a while.
3 apply the tint spray in long even and light coats, leave a few minutes between coats (tell you on the can how long, my one reccomended 15 mins but i gave 5 and was fine) continue to apply untill desired darkness/tinting achieved (NOTE read legal bit at bottom of this post)
4 give it about half an hour to semi dry (should be touch dry) and CAREFULLY remove the newspaper and masking tape.
5 leave it overnight to harden (you can use the car just don't wash it) then polish it with T-Cut or similar.
6 enjoy your wicked cool tinted lights!
LEGAL - not too sure on the specifics here so you may want to check it out properly, but what I do know is - your not supposed to cover the reflector (rear lights) (i did anyway), your not supposed to do more than 2 light coats (i did 8), and I don't think your actually meant to do the headlights at all (I did, 2 light coats)
can't notice any difference in the light levels at the front and the rear is still plenty bright, looks ace!
the tint didnt settle on the S badge properly but that no prob as it is easy to remove, just use ordinary nail polish remover, comes right off! if you have to use it near or on paintwork be careful as i dont know if it might damage it or not, i used a little on mine and just wiped off straight away with no ill effects but no gauruntee here.

Yeah I tinted my rear lights and side repeaters a couple of years ago on mine. Used the spray stuff in a can and it's still looking as I did when I first did it. Some lacquer them afterwards to get the glossy look but I didn't for when I come to sell it i'm just limiting buyers. They will come off with those special alcohol wipes. I didn't do my headlight with the tint stuff I opted for this http://www.flyeyeskit.co.uk/
it's totally legal as it's vinyl with lots of tiny holes in which allows the light through... if i knew about it sooner I'd have done the rear lights too. I did my 3rd brake light in it and put some over my reflectors (they still reflect bright everyone... before i get a lecture)

I've recently been looking into this and I'm torn between the flyeyes and the lamin-x film for the headlights.
The flyeyes kit is a lot cheaper so might try that first.

if you bare with me one day mate I shall post some. The lamin-x is 'see through' smoked vinyl I believe. This is actualy a solid black one, however it has hundreds of tiny holes in it to allow light through.
easy to apply too with a hair dryer. Takes a beating from the pressure washer easily so the adhesive is very capable.
The headlights are the same as before, no colour change or dimming..

Lamin x has been used by the Audi boys on audi sport for some time, it looks very good and doesn't affect the light pattern, it on my list to !
I did my front lights and my mates honda civic rear lights in under 10 minutes.
Literally just peel the backing off, start on one edge and carefully apply using heat to make flexible making sure no bubbles are present. then cut with a stanley knife around the edges and use heat to seal edges.

i have looked into these options several times and will bite the bullet this summer and tint the back lights with spray (keirravn if i need help you mite get a few PM if you could please) and fly eyes on the front as i have smoked indicators

Uprated rear bulbs.... you'd be amazed. I've been followed and pulled over and they never even mentioned the lights. Will try get some photo's on of the lights at night with sidelights and brake lights at day time.
ye am planning on it, be the first time iv met other 'seat people' lol
livingstone aint that far if your ever down dundee way i could lend you a hand if you like, but tbh its hard to go wrong with anyway.

Cheers mate. I might be getting some of those Dectane lights in the future so will probably do those in it. Might remove the rear spray tint and then red do them in the FLY EYES KIT.
... I'm probably going to get onslaught of abuse for the darkness of the rear ones but I keep assuring people that the same amount of light is emitted due to having brighter rear bulbs!
