There's a lengthy discussion about this very topic already on this board. I believe the consensus was that the groove orientation doesn't matter, it's the vents inside the disc that have to be the right way round.
Your first port of call would be the disc manufacturer, they will tell you which way round they recommend.

My mintex c-tech said they could be mounted either way on the manufacturers instructions. I put them with the grooves poiting forward.
Pointing forward: de-glazes pad with every brake, but also bites in more so pads wear quicker and makes more noise

I used to work for CRN, and i advised people to have them fitted with the grooves, grooving outwards at 12 o' clock position from the hub. So like / at the top of the passenger side disc.
Slower rate of pad abuse, yet still cuts into the pad giving extra bite.

Thanks for the advice guys, helpful stuff... As I'm after grooves but low noise I would opt for the way Evans mentions...
low noise groove consider the eliptical grooves i do.. non-handed and quiet running for grooved disks
Ok thanks Bill, will consider, do you do protect discs to prevent rust in this design?
I'll also be needing some new hoses, I know you do front / rear bean links, are the rear ones likely to make much difference? Realise the fronts will as most of the braking happens up there...

Surely even zinc coating or anodising will eventually wear off the surface? Or is it more to stop the grooves looking rusty?
