Decat or sports cat?

Hey folks just wondering what do you think would be the better buy a decat or sports cat to go with a downpipe and cat back? Cheers

i would say sports cat but a high flow one, that way no hassle with MOT's, police etc.

with a sport cat, does the EML light come on or do you have to make adjustments using VAGCOM due to the lambda sensors?

de-cat will be better but is illegal for road use..

Sal it's hit and miss, some people get the EML on and others don't. I do sometimes, other times it goes off. I have no idea if it will pass the MOT, I would hope so seeing as this is the reason that I bought it but the reason that the EML come on is because the car is seeing higher flow/emissions after that Cat than expected. A that the car expects the extra CO2, IIRC.

cheers mate, i got hold of a cheap jetex back box (twin pipe) off ebay for £56 and the guy also had some pipe with it (2.5" i think) so gonna take it to my local custom chrome racing place (make and fit exhausts) and might ask them to add a sports cat too. just need to get a trade account with them, then some the products are half price! it doesnt say if they are 100 or 200 cell though.

can you get a different sensor fitted after the decat to keep the engine light off?

my mate has a focus st and had a sensor put in which keeps it off, apparantly the element is just recessed back so it doesnt pick up as much gas/emissions

You can get it Mapped out, I have a decat and asked for them to map mine out, but EML is on, because they didnt..

I had the SEL light on after I got my 3" DP with race cat. Turned out The hole we drilled was to small. Used a 8mm frill and widened out the hole. Light went away. No way to pass Swedish MOT tho. Needed an A6 cat for that. bolt on - bolt off once a year

Ive just bought a decat but have the premises etc to swap it back whenever.Have also bought a O2 sensor spacer from usa ebay to eliminate the eml light problem will be fitting it on saturday

might get the exhaust co to amend mine so the cats removeable and replaceable for mot time.

can the 02 sensor spacers be bought from uk ebay? if not how much did your cost?

Just get to know your local MOT place, they will then pass it anyway.

And are the police really going to go to the effort of getting on their hands and knees to have a look under your car with a flash light to see if you have a cat or not?

Doubt it greatly plus they wont beable to see under mine to have a look
