you know you got a mk2 when besides the fact theres 65 pages of faults, problems and niggles listed here, you can almost guarantee that the car will come up with something new thats not on here.

you know you have a mk2 when you try and open the passenger door when its on the ramp and it nearly snaps your side skirts off, twice. (i really should remember to take the new parts out of the car before i put it on the ramp)
you know you got a mk2 when you try and tell anyone that you've got a "vag" car and they just laugh at the word vag.

Definetely recommend a mk3 backbox. I have one on my 1.4 and love it.
You can get them from TPS (Trade Parts Specialist/Supplies). They do parts for the VAG range. The garage I use has an account with them and they got me my second one from there.
Dont mind using that garage because the mechanic who usually works on my car has recently bought a mk1 LCR and its awesome.

Im thinking of dropping my mk3 backbox off at some point and putting some of exhaust paint stuff on to try and prevent it rusting and for it to last longer.
The thing is, they rot from the inside from the fumes and water vapour. Outside rusting is cosmetic really.
And a valver aswell.
