LCR Fob or car fault

Ive been searching and cant find exactly what i am looking for
My LCR fob seems to work fine when locking the car but will not open it.
When i press the unlock button the light on the fob flashes but doest unlock
I then need to unlock the drivers door with the key and press the button inside to open the rest of the doors.
Whats the best course of action to sort the problem?

I recently had a problem with my fob and central locking, tried all the "recoding" procedures I could find on here but they didnt work. Had to be taken to a specialist in the end. Would be interested to know exactly how to recode the fob for if it happens again??

Can the LCR fob actually be re-coded by ourselfs without going to SEAT?

^^ Do a search for "recoding key"

You can recode the remote central locking (if you have a spare key) easily, but if you have a problem with the immobiliser you will need your SKC code which the dealers or a specialist (or a nifty tool from ebay) will be able to get you.

i had that problem, i changed the battery in the remote and it worked fine for about 2 months then tonite the remote stopped working all together, think i mit ehave to visit the stealers cos i need a 2nd key anyway, gona be expensive

I tried the way in the book couple of times and it still dont work
it unlocks all doors exept the driver but works fine when locking all doors

If thats the case, I would expect the problem to be with the drivers door catch, unless its an older LCR?

as the earlier ones had door pins and these were controlled by an air actuator in the door which is seperate to the catch in the door, these can go wrong, and the later LCR's had electric door catches and no pin.

Mines a 2003 225 mate so is that older or not?

Its wierd as its works in every other way, when driving off, with the button inside the driver door and when you lock on the Fob just not when you open it with the fob

Mine often has the trouble where all of a sudden it will lock but not unlock. If i change the battery it resolves this issue. I dont know why my fob eats batteries as i use one every 5-6 months but atleast it sorts it. Asda had buy 2 for £3 on there own brand CR032's and theres two in a pack so that will last me a while.

that is the one things apart from main steeler that I have not tried yet although why would it still operate all the other doors??

Yeah the spare is a normal non remote key

The battery going flat would not make it function how it is...

From the dealer they are £2 a battery for a decent make.

Hi m8 interestin prob e 2.central lockin locks car but sometimes on unlockin all exept drivers door open&i have 2unlock wi key.is it c/lockin at fault? how do ireplace c/lockin control is it as 4 golf &in door mirror/e.window panel? or do i have 2take doorcard off?
PLENTY THREADS ON PROBS BUT NO1 EVER SEEMS 2SAY HOW THEY FIXED IT!!!!

if one door isnt unlocking/locking or will work sometimes then not others it is likely to be your door control module about £100 for the part from the stealers and is fairly simple but fiddly about 1-2hours work. Visit the Vortex forum for the walkthrough or get a mk4 golf haynes
