Just picked up my new Ibiza sport... got the bluetooth pack ...
have paired the iphone ok but it won't find my phonebook... is it me doing something wrong or is the phonebook not found on the 3g iphone....

If someone rings me their name comes up so must read the phonebook somehow.

Thanx Julie xx

The Ibiza bluetooth isn't like Leon (ie you don't get the "big" dashboard screen). There is no way on Ibiza to cycle through your phonebook using the car's controls - whatever mobile you have.

You need to scroll through your phonebook on the handset (when safe of course ;)), or save voice tags to the car's memory.

The fact that people's names appear on the head unit when they call means you've got as much phonebook integration as you can get...

How did you add the voice tags? Can't find in the manual and the long dialogue help from the voice control is crap

When the car was new I was able to set up voice tags. It was painfully slow and laborious. Then I realised that you don't have to. You can use the contact names that are in the phonebook.

I just tried to set up voice tags again so I could tell you how it's done but the option isn't there anymore! (The only thing I didn't try was Reset Factory Defaults).

I thought the voice recognition was excellent for commands and numbers but was total crap at recognising phonebook entries - BUT then I realised it was reversing the names. So to call John Smith I have to say "CALL Smith John ON MOBILE". If there are three words in the name I have to say the last word then the first word and leave out the middle word. That's using a Samsung Galaxy Portal running Android (other phones might be different). We also use an LG that will connect but its phonebook cannot be read.

Is the car able to read your phonebook? If it is then it should be possible to make a call using the name stored in the phonebook without setting up a voice tag.

All I get is the sorry message when I try to voice dial my phone book contacts. The commands work fine but it never recognises contacts

I just think it doesn't like my accent mate. Also I gave all my contacts saved in my iPhone as first name and last name do the car swaps them around for some reason. I'm currently changing some contacts by putting the whole name in the first name section with a space and I'll see how that goes

Well now the voice control has stopped working all together even without the phone connected. press the phone button and nothing. Can still dial using phone and it works through speakers but that's it.
Only had this car 11 days from new so not happy

When you have made changes to your phonebook remember to have the car "Update Address Book" so it will pick up the changes.

The Samsung Galaxy Portal only has one field for the name and the car still reverses the words.

I also remembered that when we first connected to the car there were problems and the phone would keep locking up and didn't work properly at all. It might have let me set up voice tags at that time only because it wasn't able to read the phone book correctly. Once it started to connect fully without any problems voice tags were not available.

It still struggles to understand sometimes and occasionally it will read out a list of possible matches. The larger the phone book the more problems it has.

Try the option to restore factory settings and then connect the phone again.

- just read your latest post - voice control stopped working - sounds like you have a fault.
