And therein you have a choice. :) You don't buy it, you don't need to buy it.

A choice being your want a new car, you buy something else, or you keep your current car.

From the point of view of SEAT though they take stock of people's opinions the fact is that this is the product they are currently marketing.

I won't buy one, you won't buy one, but some will buy it and that as a manufacturer is their aim, to sell cars.

From the point of view of the competition VAG see that they are in a much better place financially, so from their point of view they are selling cars and making money.

I'm not so concerned about this car, I've driven it, its a good car, its fast and its certainly seen tweeks above and beyond the stock Cupra. But no benefit to a tuned Cupra, but then not everyone wants to tune their car either, so its a hotter Leon Cupra for those who want to keep their warranty.

To me its not worth the outlay to upgrade, nor is it worth the outlay to sod off and buy a Ford or Renault for the same kind of money.

However I'm excited about whats to come from the brand and future Leon's might just be worth swapping for, if the green brigade doesn't neuter them that is. :)

My "beef" with the cupra R as such, and its nothing personal but I just dont see how SEAT can justify a 5k premium over the standard cupra, but it doesnt actually look like you are getting anything for your money.

I could make a cupra R rep for less than what SEAT are selling them for, is my point with this thread. ;)

I have to say i am with you on this mate.
buy an exdemo cupra add the bells and whistles to make it as near as the R and save a few ££££££££'ssssssss

But i expect there to be discounts soon as they will have a pile of these cars to shift because of the pricing and will do deals to move them on.
The only problem then becomes that the competion like the RS focus will be cheaper becasue there will be more used examples on the market compared to The R and lets not forget the scirroco R which on paper and by pics i have seen leaves the Cupra with the ugly sister prize imho with not a lot of difference on price.

Given the price tag they'll pretty much be made to customer order, much like the Cupra is. There won't be an airfield full of Cupra Rs you can be sure of that.

I'm with you on that one......The Cupra R is way overpriced and they will have to provide big discounts to move them.

Mind I costed a Megane Renaultsport on the interweb and managed to get it to £28K with the spec I would want.....:-o

I think SEAT/Renault/Ford will need to do some serious discounting to start moving these models.

PS. Rob empty your PM box....

hello Mr.SEAT UK employee ;)

I think it will be dealer dependant. If the dealer thinks they can shift alot of these they will stockpile some, like certain dealers did with the cupra.

All SEAT needed to do with the LCR is give it a exclusive aggressive bodykit, the 272ps lump and a diff. Job done and people like us current cupra drivers might consider buying it.

Think he must have done Rob as he dug up a 3 year old thread :)

Try David at SERE motors for the parts you need Chris.

Na not yet. Still looking around and have mobilised my Trek and R1 to assist in mobilising my ass around in the mean time.

Also had a chuckle to myself as I put the Cupra R diffuser on my FL Cupra after I posted the first response above
