get remote central locking so you dont have to use a key :D havent used my key in the doors for 2 months :) if they are properly siezed you will have to get behind the door trim and spray the back of the locks with WD.

I think the whole vag range has this issue, I find my locks on my mk3 golf freeze up allll the time. I physically couldn't get into my car one day to get to work. I was pouring water all over the lock. down the sides everything. I could get the key half way in but that was it lol

Wd40 isnt a lubricant, you need some proper oil or grease.

i know WD40 isn't a lubricant, it's not lubrication that is needed
there must be water in there, so it freezes up...hence the lock seizing :(

That was your problem, even boiling water will freeze on metal and make things worse. And the solid lump of metal that is your door lock won't heat up sufficiently to detach itself from the striker.

It's not just VAG, any car is susceptible to the same problem. My other halfs Almera was a right pig this winter.

could it be the rf sender box though ? do the lights work on it ?

well could be, but key doesn't work whatsoever, i mean it doesn't even light up lol, i think the contacts or something are broke, so just need a keyfob really!
