Steering wheel judder?

When I get past 60mph i get a judder through the steering wheel. Not a problem at lower speeds or even when accelerating.

There is a slight pull to the left but nothing major.

You reckon getting the alignment done will sort all this problems or is it something more sinister?

The wheels have recently been removed but I put them back on in the same formation. So wouldn't have thought it was that.

No problems under braking so not warped discs or anything like that.

i had ajudder in my old car, it was the wheels needing balancing. and the pull could be uneven tyre pressure, or a worn bush.

sounds like your wheels need balancing-just double check your wheel nuts are still tight

I'll have a gander they have just had a refurb so I've probably cocked something up refitting them - cheers lads.

You would notice the wheel wobble at all speeds if they werent tight and under braking mate, sounds like a wheel balance issue to me.As for the pulling this could be caused by uneven tyre wear try swapping them side to side and see if it still pulls if so take it for a allignment check

Try moving the front wheels to the back, if this cures the problem then you know its the tyres or wheels. Could have a slight buckle, balancing is wrong or tyre is dodgy.

I'll get them rebalanced then. Do I just need the fronts doing or will the rears cause me grief too?

I know nothing about balancing I bet you cant tell haha

Probably just do the fronts first to see if it cures it.

Mine LC TDI was doing that. Got the car Four wheel Lazer Aligned. Still had the issue, just not as bad. Took both front wheels off to balance and found the passenger one has a huge buckle which makes it hard to balance up. Need to get it sorted as it wears the tyres unevenly on the inside edges.

im hoping the wheel isnt buckled as that sounds like a load of hassle. I will go down the balancing route first and see how that goes then finish up with a full wheel alignment at Midland vw as they have some flash machine.

Did the refurb place actually rebalance the wheels? I'd have hoped they would remove the weights before cleaning them up, which means they will have to be redone.

also make sure when you re fitted your wheels you tightened them in steps in a cross pattern, if you tighten 2 bolts next to each other sometimes can cause the wheel to sit at an angle

Yeah they balanced them for me. I'll redo the nuts again today to ensure all is well.
