Cupra R: where are those vids? lol.

So what are the other choices of systems without going custom, obvisously blueflame and milltek but other than them. Piper don't do one, jetex do but it is a duplex system and don't know anyone with one, i think supersprint do but are exspensive any other companies?

Just this second put the phone down from Nigel at blueflame - really really nice guy!!

Yes they do cat backs for the cupra (oval tailpipe) and one for the FR (twin pipe) both retail at £485.00

so for a full system you're looking around £1,000

They are trying to get pictures and sound clips up on the website but haven't so far due to lack of time

So at least there is another option :D

How come??

Email sent to Nigel at Blueflame - will see what he comes back with :)

because every man and their dog has a milly, there have been quite a number of failures on millys, and people who seem to know exhausts have been slating their design lately.

Plus, dont see why I should pay 400 notes for a milly cat back to only gain .25 of an inch in diameter over standard. Really it should be a full 3" system, although saying that Dans Milly is a continous 2.75 inch from the turbo back and his seems to go well, but who is to say his wouldnt benefit from a full 3".

well my cupra is a continuous 2.75 and i put out the same bhp as a cupra with the same mods so i dont think there can be a massive differance. dont think i will go milly again to be honest.

Milly is over rated.

I would really like a capristo exhaust! [B)]

Does your power curves look identical to that of a cupra with a 3 inch as in does it come in just as early etc?

I've just been searching for different exhaust and came across a Remus exhaust for the cupra, they do a new range called the 65 which all or their systems are 65mm

"NEW REMUS 65 CAT BACK EXHAUST SYSTEM

The fantastic new Remus 65 range of stainless steel high performance cat-back exhaust system.

* Brushed stainless steel twin 84mm tailpipes
* 65mm (2.65") Group A tube diameter
* Fantastic REMUS 65 racing sound
* Optimised for flow and back pressure
* Stainless Steel constuction
* TUV Approved
* Lifetime warranty

Designed for optimal flow and back pressure, each system incorporates a 65mm diameter group A bore.

The result is a great looking and sounding exhaust system giving serios power gains."

Don't know what to make of it though?

Whilst at Blueflame this was mentioned Ken, and that BF prefer a more direct exit for gases to flow. Which sounds logical to me.

But without first fitting a milly and a dyno then fitting this whether it actually works any better is anyones guess.

i have the box on the back of my milltek and i am thinking of getting it cut out, its so heavy and it must restrict the flow massively, might get the cat removed aswell. but we will see. i have a feeling it might be a tad loud

The biggest restriction on these systems is the pinch point at the top of the DP:

In the photo above the OEM DP (right) has a heat shield around it, then there is an air gap, then the pipework sits inside that meaning there may be as little as a 1.5" pipe to flow through at this point. Personally I think they have done this to silence the spool up of the turbo as it is noisier, and OEM cars are built for mainstream everyday drivability.

The next part which is restrictive is around the cats, where a secondary silencer is located. Although the pipework 'doubles up', it is disruptive to airflow (and heavier).

By having a far straighter exit route the gases can be dispelled quicker, the unit is lighter, it gives more of the jet like sound as the gases fire out of the back. I'm not so sure the back unit makes a huge difference as some people with S3's running 400bhp+ on ASN have been running aftermarket TB + DP's mated to OEM cat backs (to retain OEM look), without any ill effects.

In the bottom shot you can se how much material you can shed, and this can allow weight savings of over well over 10kgs.
