right my sisters rear washer jet has stopped working.. i know this is a common problem with the mk3 it hapened to me 2 weeks ago.. the water in the tube freezes and expands making the pipe disconect and the water goesinto the boot.

i was just wondering if this is also the case for the mk4. before i take stuff apart.

any advice would be apreciated

cheers

Was asked the other week, and if it is in same place, it will have popped off in the engine bay, passengers side, behind the wheel.

I've not bothered putting the rear boot trim back on my car since mine did this a few weeks ago. I'm waiting until the weather warms up. Either that or I'll find a big enough hole saw to remove the bit of plastic from the boot trim which is over the pipe / connection.

mine kept popping off until one day i got fed up and went into halfrauds, bought a set of clips (the one's that are shaped like a ring with a screw to tighten), put one onto the connection, tightened her up and hey presto havn't had any bother since even in this freezin weather recently. Best couple of quid i ever spent:D

It's not always just the pipe btw. If you're very unlucky, even with reattaching it you could still have water coming out. In which case, it's either a new motor required or you need to take it apart and replace the metal pipe inside of it. The good news is that you can get a new motor as a warranty replacement so if it's still covered then get the dealer to do it.

Yep... got to be one of the worst bits of design I've ever come across. Mines been off under the bonnet and in the boot. Also had TWO rear wiper motors as well!!!!!! Would not mind so much if it wasn't for the fact that I always run it with a min. of 50% winter screen wash and the cars garage every night.

finally got mine sorted today .. literally two minute job as luckily, it was just the piping in the engine bay that had come apart.
*saves taking it down to that Mickey-Mouse outfit where I bought the bloody thing from on a day off only to sit there for three hours whilst they get around to doing it.

You did well doing it that quick. On our car I couldn't get underneath the ABS unit which is where the pipe connector was. Just about managed to reroute it over the top of the ABS unit but even this it was really hard to hold of both ends of the pipe to shove them together.

Like oh so many been here last year. Mine leaked out near the air box and its really tight on the Tdi. Would not cover it under warranty so it cost me £45:(

Ive run about 75% screen wash this year and so far it been fine
