door switch/sensor which one

cupra glasgow

Guest
Had a few problems with my leon cupra, the car thinks the drivers door is open even when shut, inside light stays on as does the safety light on the bottom of the door.

Have got a code fault which is 00928 locking unit sporadic for CL drivers side - F220.

The question is do i need to replace the door lock mechanisim in the door its self or just the central locking switch inside the carnext to the electric window switches?

If it is the door lock mec is it a hard job to do with basic skills?

Thanks for any help!

Changing the door lock isn't hard, there are plenty guides on the net.

I have just done this.

It's about £100 for the lock:(

the door latch has a control unit built in, they sometimes get penetraited with water and these sort of faults occur.
That's what happened to mine and your car doesn't go anywhere without this so had to replace it with a new one

You can still use your car you just run the risk of:

All the windows dropping
Alarm going off
interior light/s running the battery flat

The car was REALLY unhappy with this not working.
When I went over 15 MPH it kicked in the alarm and made me feel like I was stealing my own car.
Hopefully should have this sorted soon. Mechanism waiting for me at home, cheers David at SereMotors....again:)

Had the same thing happen to me i took the lock out and dried it out. there is a micro switch on the bottom that plays up all working now i would try that frist could save you buying a new lock.

I have a similar problem on my passenger door, lock all the doors and the button pops up again and when you open the door the interior light doesn't turn on, is that the micro switch not working?
