Well what can I say except I'm glad I'm not the only one. :D

It could be a good idea to perhaps have a sticky thread with tips for avoiding scrapping the splitter on speed bumps, multi-stories etc...

One of the middle clips on my front splitter has come out of its place. I've tried clipping it out of place but it's not wanting to go in its hole.

Should I be able to do this easily cos I'm using quite a bit of force and it just isnt happening!

I've had problems getting them in in the past. One snaps off of the splitter, leaving the rest stuck in the bumper, while the other unclips from the bumper. Just requires a fair bit of force

I fitted a splitter on to my LC and have scrapped it many a time, car parks, speed bumps, driveways kerbs the lot. To avoid catching it on a kerb best thing to do is reverse in then you shouldn't ever catch it and the sound of the splitter catching isn't as bad as hearing the sump catch lol caught it the first time I drove it after having it lowered on V3's at AmD on the speed bumps just as you pull out and turn left.
Also lakeside carpark is a nightmare to get into all fun and games though.

How low is your car then lol or have you just been unlucky? I hate running over already dead animals in the road just waiting for the clatter of whatever animal it was and what gets left behind with it.

I've only had my LCR a week and a bit and the front splitter is broken at the farside already :( If I'm any later getting home than about 7pm there's almost no chance of getting a parking space on my street, the second night I had the car I was out for a blast and got back about 11pm. Had to circle round the streets near me looking for spaces.

There's a street two along from mine that has a nice mix of small bumps, sleeping policemen and big-ass potholes - the latter usually hiding on either side of either of the former. I'd grounded the splitter out at least 20 times trying to get parked and when I went to the car in the morning the sodding thing was broken...

I've managed to kerb two of the alloys too, going to wait til I've had the car another month or so and got used to how to park it and where not to drive before I get these things all sorted or sod's law I'll just do it again!

I had a lcr for about 18 months before i had my new cupra and in that time i had 7 front splitters! Took it on a multistorey once and i was a nervous wreck so never took it on again. Any slight camber in the road and it just scraped. Horrible sound! Any my husband parked it ontop of a grid once - so it wasnt all me! Luckily the new shape cupra isnt as low :)

I've not done it so much lately. I've noticed if I do a full steering lock it doesn't scrape so much. I think it must raise the front ever so slightly.
I will look to get a new one at some stage this year. Will probably get my front bumper re-sprayed so will tie it in with that. :)

Mine was cracked when I bought the car. Cheap enough to replace though as long as it isn't too often. Only ever scrape the bottom of it occasionally now in the multistorey car parks but just go ultra slow and not an issue.

I always reverse park too to avoid nudging it on the kerbs.

Yeah this is a problem I have - if I was to drive out of my estate as the crow flies I would have to go over 21 speedbumps. So, I got on google maps and plotted an alternative route avoiding as many as possible and got it down to 8. Bloody ridiculous! I'm usually OK unless I've got someone else in the car, then I have to drop it into 1st and basically crawl over them, it's a real pain!

From what you guys are saying though, the worst that will happen is that the splitter will break off, which is fine cos I can just replace it. As long as it's not going to damage the bumper or fixings, I can live with it!

At least I'm not catching my sump like I used to do with the Corrado... now that is a sickening bang!

Well i bought my car in dec and have replaced the beaten up splitter that was on it with a nice new one!

Splitter number 2 now on, the car catches on everything was almost stuck in a pub car park getting in and out, also caught the splitter going up a slight incline going into a community hall, really bad how low the spliiter is never mind the sump

have trouble getting in and out of my garage as well, i have 2 bits of wood i use and have to constantly get out and make sure its all proped up and sits flush before i drive into the garage (i learned this from splitter number 1 getting caught)

so far i've heard lots of bad noises coming from the splitter get out to check the damage and its just caught the underside of the plastic so it doesn't show, the sump guard is still on, so its a case of ok for now... sooo bad the sound it makes when its catches i could cry

really tempted to get some eibach springs but I know im going to regret it big time!

;)
