Anybody did this themselves? I plan on doing it with another pair of hands at work. We have ramps, transmission stands and all the tools. Just wondering if its much of a clart on for people who have done it themselves? does the subframe have to be dropped or anything?

there was a thread of someone doing it themself. Think it was the same lad that fitted a car puter. I also remembering him having to support the engine and possiby move it slightly to reach the clutch.

Also if I was you I would change the clutch to a uprated spec like sach or helix. cant remember the ratings but with the mods you are running lets face it for the extra notes the benefits will be reaped at some point.

with 313lbft i'd go for the sach organic clutch kit, available from most of the sponsors on here. its rated to about 390lbft-400lbft.

or if you're planning on going all out get the sach sintered paddle clutch :D i cant wait for mine to come on monday rated to 480lbft!!!!!!

its a gearbox out job so say 4hours labour at a garage, i'd say 6hours if you've not done it before. the 6-speed box is very heavy aswel

how much does it cost for a sintered clutch, and is a new flywheel needed?? or anything else needed?? and where did you get it from?

Yeah im using a helix clutch with SMF. Im used to heavy boxes tbh.. i work as a HGV mechanic. Take heavy diesel boxes out fairly often. Just wondering if there is anything specific i should look out for etc?

Crossy - not that i'm aware of tbh, so should just be an easy enough drop out i'd have thought. dont hold me to that though as i've never done it.

Ibiza - It's exactly the same kit as the organic kit just with a sintered friction plate. so should be about £10 cheaper. a new flywheel is always recommended. i've just got a new dmf and the release bearing from eurocarparts for £240 so its not as bad as the dealers when they wanted 550!!!

It was only the sintered friction plate i've bought as it's already got a full organic clutch in there.(sintered plate was £302 delivered from awesome. So im just replacing the organic with sintered
at 17k i wouldnt bother with a new fly as that should be fine.

http://www.jabbasport.com/store/index.php?app=gbu0&ns=prodshow&ref=JSCK6SPDSACHSTDI thats the kit but you'd have to ask them to swap the organic plate with the matching sintered plate (ridgid if using a dmf)

but as i say the sintered option is pretty hardcore and im only going for it incase i get nos or propane over the next year.
for less than 380lbft i'd def go back with organic

u willl need another pair of hands defo it change the clutch! its not an easy job as there is not much room to drop it out! got to b careful of the all the wires between the fans and the gear box! it took me and my mechanic about an hour to do the turbo and about 4 to do the clutch! i will need the clutch alignment tool (not sure wat it is called) to make sure the flywheel is spining true!
