Sport or Formula Sport?

Hey SeatCupra community, this is my first post so go easy on me

I'm looking to buy a SEAT Ibiza but after discovering the different models I am now clueless on which to get.

First of all I would like to know the difference between the Sport and the Formula Sport, which is better?

I found two SEAT Ibiza's at my local car show rooms.

1. SEAT Ibiza Formula Sport [Mk4] | 29,000 miles. 57 Reg - £7000
2. SEAT Ibiza Sport [Mk4] | 9,000 miles. 08 Reg - £7000

So which one would be a better choice?

hi and welcome to the forum , i had a formula sport model before i got my cupra and i have to say it was a good car. this is one http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...el-type/petrol/sort/priceasc/page/1&logcode=p they are a better spec than the 1.4 sport eg. 100bhp compared to 85bhp on the sport, 16" alloys compared to 15" etc etc. this is a sport http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...-type/petrol/page/1/sort/priceasc&logcode=flp . personally i'd look into getting a tdi FR, theres a hell of alot you can get out of them or a cupra like me

Well I have one thing stopping me from looking at these cars.

I am only 17 (18 in 4 weeks) and this will be my first car haha. So I don't think a Cupra or a FR is the car for me

ok what about pd100? diesels are cheaper to run, cheaper tax and you can get a remap from p-torque, for £265 to take it to 140-150 bhp. how much you got to spend, if you don't mind me asking?

I won't be able to make any modifications as without mod's on a Forumula Sport the insurance is £3,500. So having mods on will raise the insurance sky-high.

That including the price of a car my budget is £10,000.
(Leaving £7000-ish for the car)

I think I'm right in saying that once I turn 18 insurance will go down £500 anyway?

fair point, but when time does come when you want to put mod's on your car (and you will been on this site ) theres isnt alot you can do to a formula sport, trust me been there done that and now iv got a tdi cupra. if you go for a diesel, the mod's list is massive and they have huge potential, so when you want to make it faster etc you can instead of changing the car.

am not sure about the car insurance tbh you will have to get quote's off loads of companys and see what they give you

I wouldn't mind having it in red with black tinted windows

The age to be new-ish (06 plate or newer)

Low-ish mileage

I would like the car to sound nice, lol.

My Dad owns a Leon FR... And he has read our conversation and has advised me to look at a TDi Diesel.

good cars mate, my cupra tdi has got 70,000 miles on the clock and it will easy do that again, so don't let that put you off and they don't depreciate as much as petrols so when time does come to sell the car you will see more of your money back.

yes thats a nice car mate, clean, right colour, cheap insurance group, low tax and cheap to run. am sure your dad's told you but keep searching the net, don't just get the first one you see ohh and when you do see the car you want make sure it has full service history and if its 4 years old or over or over 60,000 miles on the clock it has had its cambelt and water pump changed

I've been looking at the TDi's and have noticed two different editions, the Reference Sport and the Ecomotive.

Which is better of the two? I noticed the Ecomotive does a lot more MPG than the other.

am not really to clued up on the Ecomotive spec. iv heard you do get more mpg but you don't get some extra's like alloys. do you do alot of motorway miles?

Not really, I will be cruising around towns and what not.

ok with either TDI's you will deffinitly see high mpg, so if you'd prefer the car to have alloys and a few other extra's go with the tdi sport model because even though the Ecomotive gives better mpg, you don't do enough miles to warrant getting it and the looks of the sport would be better while cruising around town plus you will still see 40+ mpg

I suppose you've heard this everywhere but I thought I'd just mention it anyway.
Get something with a really low insurance group, 1.4TDI or a 1.2 Petrol and use that for one to two years.
Once you've done that you can take the money you've saved on insurance (And it will be alot) and maybe at that point you can afford a Cupra!

Don't just go for the bigger engine straight away, the different between a 1.4 Petrol and a 1.2 Petrol are nothing to shout home about (No offence)

I wish I'd done this, I got a few points on my licence and an accident and its ruined my chances of having nice cars on cheap insurance!

Have you seen the insurance costs for 17 year olds today? £3,000 is quite cheap lol. I managed to get £2000 but that was from a 1.1 Ford Ka '01 Reg. And I'm sorry, but I'm not driving one of them
