I've been looking at the TDi FR + for some time now and am impressed at how well it seems to be holing it's value, most are £7000+ some are even £9500 but the again i've seen them at £5500 i realise that there are alot of factors to consider such as age (are they all 05) mileage, service history condition etc

My questions to you guys in the know are this;

are they all 05?

Do you guys think they will contine to hold a good value or are they due a big drop?

I've seen this happen where a car holds a good value then overnight seems to loose a grand or two?

Estimates on the price of an average mileage good example in 2 years time? £2000? £3000? £4000? or more perhaps???????

Thanks

Chill - soon to be FR hopefully??

people correct me if i'm wrong
the tdi fr+ was only built for around 6to8months (run out model of the leon mk1) and should all be on 55plate so yes their only built in 05.
i have just brought an tdi fr after looking for a few months for an fr+ and everything that i view wasn't as good as i'd hoped plus a wanted a red one so made my hunt even harder.

As i said i ended up buying a normal fr instead as i found a minter plus i can add the bumpers and wheels to make it an fr+. you will find alot more tdi fr cheaper than the fr+.

as for holding their price who know's.

hope this helps

i have a normal fr and its an 05 plate, as said the fr+ was the end of the line so really should be 55 plate for a guess but i can't say for certain

price wise i am not sure but i paid 8.5k for my fr over a year ago with 37.5k on the clock average milage, so far not had a single problem and i paid a grand less than the price i should from a dealers so very happy with the purchase

as said you can get an fr and do the cuprar r/fr+ look yourself and you may save money depending on the inital price, plus you may be able to get 18's and not 17's as on the fr+ alloy wise as well ;)

Cheers for the replies guys i thought they were an end of the line special sort of thing but wasn't sure!

It's the price issue i'm most interested in? I guess i'm just fearful that i might get one now and then the value might take a massive hit because it's been holding so well?

Cheers

Mines a FR, I think the only difference is cupra r bumpers and wheels although the wheels are 17's (I maybe corrected on this). I was lucky enough to hit a monk jack and have a cupra r front bumper fitted thanks to the insurance company and my mate at the body shop;)
As for price's, I think all Seat's are holding up well and hopefully will do for some time.
Our daughter got a Ibiza sportrider a year and half ago with 20 miles on the clock for 9250.00, saw one at the dealership last week with 19000 miles on it for the same:D

I bought a FR+ with 30k on the clock in red in Feb 2009 for 8k from a Seat Dealer. Bought a Focus ST from a ford garage and they offered me 7.5k and I could have haggled more, so they are holding up pretty well id say, same with the Cupra's really. Better than the value of the ST's are anyway :(

I'll put another vote for the FR+ being on 55 plates and there was someone on hear the other day stating they had an 06 one.

They are holding their prices very well, and unless someone comes up with a brilliant petrol/hybrid that gives all the benefit of petrol powered hot hatch fun (lets say an LCR) with the running costs tax and fuel of a Mini D (£35 tax and 65mpg) then your pretty much on to a winner with the FR/FR+, the derv equivilent of an LCR.

I bought my 55 FR+ two years ago with 20k for 11k from a dealer, almost within 6months of buying prices had risen (for dervs in general) and a quick look on the trader or piston heads today shows some strong risidules (along with some silly prices).

Either way if you end up with an Cupra/FR or FR+ you'll have a fantastic car.

I think they are nice cars but as soon as the mk5 golf/k2 leon diesels fall further they just wont compete. With age aswell they become more expensive to look after. IMO at that price its completely worth while buying a cheaper Cupra R spending less on the inital purchase and more on petrol/insurance and you will probably end up at a similar cost of ownership

I really like the looks of the car but i kind of argee that i think i prefer the newer shape but it's out of my reach price wise, which is why vwbasset i think your kind of right, as the price of the newer shape falls i think the price of the FR+ will fall faster!!! if that makes sense:confused:

i haven't been disapointed with my fr, it was standard till edition 38 when it was remapped and its now a different animal. pulls all the way to 4k and beyond and it just keeps pulling to well beyond the legal speed limit

for me the only mk2 that looks nice is the k1 which is petrol only and i still love the mk1's looks wise

I think it's the first time anyone has ever said they prefer the Mk2 looks.

If that's the case, why not get a base entry Mk2 and mod that? They look the same as the Mk2 FR/Cupra/R.

If it wasn't for needing something a bit bigger, I wouldn't be looking to change mine....low tax, good insurance, good mpg and a sexy bod makes it a dream to own :)
