Does that 'de-mist headlight mod' actually work mate? Would be really interested in doing that myself, as it really annoys me when mine mist up.

If it does work, do you reckon something similar would work on fog lights too possibly?

Oh and I've just got one of those extra boot storage things too! Probably the best mod I've ever done, ha, well the most useful one anyway ;)

Never seen that boot storage thing before - its a really good idea! They available from Seat?

Yeah, but about half the price if you buy from bloke who's selling them on ebay! Just search for 'SEAT Boot Tray' or something a long those lines and you'll find it.

Not given it a chance yet! We will see really. Not sure about the fogs as they are a sealed unit. Only way of getting them to do it is to have them on to evaporate the water.

Well, as I have this week off I thought I would give the car a good clean.

Purchased some bits from Halfrauds, then set about cleaning.

Step 1: Wash the car with water but no suds/detergent.

Step 2: Used the clay bar and lubricant to remove surface guff. Couldn't believe the amount of crap on the car that washing doesn't get rid of. It leaves the planels nice and smooth and got rid of all of the tiny specks of tar too.

Step 3: Used the liquid wax to bring it up to a great shine!

Step 4: Dressed the wheels and tyres.

Step 5: Even resprayed the mirror covers as they had been peppered with road grit.

The pictures don't really do the finish justice. I would recommend anyone use a clay bar as its very easy and gets good results!

The kit I used

I know. Its going to stay in the garage for a few days before it comes out to play... unless I do some logs with vag-com to have a look at intake temps! (Which I'm curious about...)

lookin good mike those wheels have come up lovely i need to refurb mine few have sen the kurb monster recently :(

Cheers Rob! I wiped them down a bit after I took the photo so they are matte again and not so shiny.

Looks excellent, wheels look uber shiny :D any reason you didn't use soap/detergent/shampoo?

Well pleased with the results. Wheels are not so shiny now, just the tyres! Thye reason I didn't use any detergent is.... I don't have any! :) Just a hose and brush I'm afraid.

i love what you did with the car! Awesome job.

Thanks pal! :)

Fog light removal

Well, another small mod this afternoon (you can tell I'm avoiding doing any school work....;))

Removed the front fog lights to help get some more air to the SMIC. I will be running some logs soon to see how the SMIC is performing before deciding whether or not to go for a FMIC in the warmer months. Removing them might not make any difference but I quite like the look.

See more of the SMIC now! There is ducting behind the trim/in the bumper directly to the SMIC so this will just allow the air a more direct route to it.through it!

Get those stickers on the outside of your car

Looks great after a good clean. I use that turtle wax sometimes, I like the way you can apply it to everything unlike normal wax which makes a mess if you get it on bare plastics. The protection doesn't last long however.

Yeah, I thought about it but I'm not sure how they would look really! Would probably go for black ones anyway if they were going to go on the bodywork... Might get some on the rear screen. Got some more stickers coming soon anyway. ;)

Black stickers would look cool, less in your face. I think I'll be getting a 'I'm not drunk, I'm avoiding potholes' sticker soon.

A smaller, black '20vt inside' sticker would look good under your side indicators and a massive 'down 'n' out sticker for the roof :D

Wow - you've been ultra busy on your time off haven't you Mike??? :)

Looking wicked, and glad you like the boot tray. I just didn't have a use for it in the end, I carry very little in my car these days (it's all about weight saving and speed haha)

Car looks good in the flesh too - and it wasn't as dirty as you thought it was either!

Out of interest, what exhaust do you have? Sounded quite nice when you drove off :D

 I like your thinking. I really want a black vinyl roof actually!

Cheers mate. The exhaust was a cheapo ebay bargain.... a massive £35 pounds posted to my door! :funk: Its a PowerFlow cat-back system and it burbles nicely. Even Will at P-Torque Performance commented on the quality of the sound when he remapped it! I did change the tip as the original stuck out for miles from the rear bumper and I didn't like it anyway. The new tip was £40 fitted.

if your going window for for silver or etched effect

Good plan Steve. Think I will keep the outside as clean and fresh as possible. Did you chat with Andy at work?
