yeah warranties aren't what they're made out to be

most have an hourly labour limit which is really low
then they don't pay for most diagnostics..

etc. see where I'm going lol

Ok, yes you really should test drive the car. ;)
Although its difficult to get the feel of the thing first time out you can pick up on basic stuff like steering and clutch/gearbox etc. Also the possibility of bad clonks and groans which sound expensive.

Why don’t you phone them up and say you been thinking about it and feel you want to drive the car BEFORE you hand over the cash. It’s a reasonable request and I cant see them deny it. If they refuse walk away quickly.

Its not only problems with the car but how you get on with it. I think the Ibiza is pretty easy to drive so should not be a problem but everyone is different. For example when my girlfriend bought her Mini Cooper I sat in it and loved it but when i drove one i could not find a truly comfortable driving position (still cant) and would not have chosen it myself.

The only time I did not test drive a car was when it was a family member and they were practically giving it to me so it was not polite. That car was fine though.:D

The company i brought the car from is called "the Motorhouse" been around for years only heard bad things about the finance deals they do. I havent had mine on finance!

The warrenty is with a company called "carcare" a friend has has warrenty with these before and cant fault them with the service they provided when his gearbox went bang. All i got to do is keep the car service every 12months.

I am sure the dealer and warrenty are fine BUT i still say drive the car before you hand over the cash. Make sure its not going to pull you all over the road etc.

There can be nothing worse than driving the car home and then left feeling something is badly wrong with it :-o

I still say give them a call and request a test drive when you pick it up. ;)

I could do that if i go abit earlier i could ask them. Dont ask dont get! I mean i insured on it, so dont see it being a problem. Cheers for the idea!

You know it makes sense. :D

I don’t know if you know the area where your buying but try to take it for a nice longish drive on diff types of roads.

Just basic stuff really.

Don’t thrash it but get it up to at least 50 mph and firmly brake, (check mirror first:D) it should pull up straight, also when cruising take your hands off the wheel and see it tracks straight as well.

If you find anything your not happy with make sure they agree to fix it before you pay, get it in writing

Enjoy the ride, hope it goes well.

Yeah i know the area really well its only a 10min drive from my house, As soon as you pull off the company drive way you are on the A5 (50mph) then could go through a housing estate to get back to the place. Anyway today is the day, i am going to pick her up at 4 o'clock so i will try and get online later to let you know how i get on.

Cheers for the interest & advice!

If you havn't worked it out yet - put key in to cap - hold cap still and turn key anticlockwise till it stops - turn cap anticlockwise till it unscrews.

replace - screw cap on til it clicks - hold cap still and turn key clockwise till it stops. remove key.

Glad to hear you like it.

Don't let your enthusiasm forget the basics before your holiday - oil & coolant levels.

I know it's just come from a garage but always best to be safe.

And carry a 1ltr bottle of engine oil around with you until you discover what the oil consumption is like. ( nowt worse than being stranded with low oil )
