4th Service - Major

My cars due its 4th service, I called a guy who I have been to with other cars, very reliably etc, and they have said its due a major service (spark plugs, brake fluid, filters etc)...£308... worst case scenario they said, if theres things that don't need changing they wont.

I'm waiting for a call back of SEAT to see how much it would cost with them, guessing more...

Is this right??? I've never had a service so expensive!

What is the model and What milage are you on ?

I get all my parts from Eurocarparts and do it myself.

4th year should include brake fluid change and potentially cam belt change

Ibiza 1.4 Sport, around 42k on the clock.

I had a call back from Seat who are actually cheaper than this other guy, including a cam belt change. They also said they will MOT it for free.

If SEAT are actually including a cam belt change, brake fluid change and the rest of the 40k service for less than £300 it doesn't sound like a bad price.

Just make sure the price quoted is INCLUSIVE of the above - seat are gits for quoting the service only and explaining AFTER that it's another £250+ for the cam belt change.

The £300 or so price from a SEAT dealer cannot possibly include the cambelt change.

If you got the name of the person who gave you the price, and are certain they detailed out the right work, then go for it, but expect a *huge* argument when you pick the car up. (although I generally had a row anyway during every visit to LC Charles SEAT in Crewe)

Don`t be surprised when it fails it`s "free" mot because they "found" some parts need replacing.

For belts and tensioner included it will be more like £500+
