Largest cold air feed?

What is the largest cold air feed someone has fitted to their LC/LCR?

I just went out and measured mine and its only 90mm

I am looking for a 110mm air feed, as it has the space to fit this (just!)

but the largest I can find is 102mm...

Speaking with Bill regarding my recent g/s figures, he has seen most k03 hybrid Ibiza's run between 207 - 227g/s, so running 213g/s is a good figure for now

However I am sure there is a few more g/s's to be squeezed from the setup, so want to fit a larger air feed

I remember a thread a few years back which discussed air feed size. And there was a certain size which you couldn't really go above as the air wouldn't be forced up as well (something to do with pressure gradient I guess???)

I thought so long as there was movement, there is flow, and the larger the diameter, the higher level of flow that can occur....

Like I said it was a few years ago this thread I'm on about, so I may be wrong. But I'm sure there's something about if you go too big then there's no point.

But then I suppose that will only occur if the air feed is routed down below the air box? If parralel to air box then should be fine?

I may just be talking bollocks! lol. But it's what that memory part of that thing inside my head is kicking out!

good sizes, but the alloy stuff is terrible and just splits. The neoprane material is whats best as this is a tough material

Apologies for off topic; but is that neoprene stuff pretty tuff Jamie? I've got alloy ducting to my brakes at the minute and it has split in a couple of places, would neoprene be better? Can it be crushed into an oval shape to get it through tighter gaps at all? Thanks

I used to run the alloy stuff years ago, and IMO its crap. Its very brittle, does not bend well and tears/breaks very easily

the neoprane stuff is very good. Inside the neoprane is thin coiled wiring, which keeps it together well, the material is quite tough, and yes it will flex and can be reshaped into an oval shape

no its still in its standard location

I currently run a 90mm air feed at present, but there is room for more

I would advise 102mm feed maximum, for sake of fitment. Anything bigger is going to be very tight and will be difficult to fit

but I am going to try and fit 112mm from that link showing the lorry hot/cold air ducting

i had an idea, what if you get one at a reasonable size, like 90mm-100mm , but have the front of it in a sort of scoop shape? like an open funnel thing, to draw in more air. you could sit it just behind the grill, or feed the pipe down near the foglight.will that work? i considered asking a pro to make one for me (if it works)

I did look at air intakes, but the largest plastic type intake was around 100mm but then filtered down to around 80mm, which was too small for the pipe I am running to the filter

I will be looking to take out the foglight at some point and feed it from there as the surface area of this is quite large already

remember, I am on a pre facelift bumper so dont even have half the amount of bumper space that you LCR guys have, so trying to fit the largest air intake AND a trumpet intake is tight to say the least

I will look again tonight, and see how much room there is when I take the fog light out

EDIT:

The piping will be 5", but I am struggling to find a 5" port tube (normally from speakers or bass boxes) which the piping could be stretched over

OR I could buy a 4" port tube, and the 102mm piping as this would "just" fit over the port tube, as 110mm piping I am thinking now is too large
