righty ho, as my car is rather low like many others, my handling/geometry is somewhat out, and having had a look underneath and a ponder,

im thinking that i need go to get my wishbones back down parallel..im thinking longer ball joints maybe? ball joint extenders? is there such a thing?

or is there any other vag 19mm ball joints that are longer to the ibiza ones?

looking at it all, i very much doubt my anti roll bar is doing alot due to the coilovers pulling the lot up?

anyone ever thought about this? or have a soloution? stu? flapper? mork?

cheerybyebye :D

i had a look...$300 dollers? wtf...st uff that up your ass sideways...how about a spacer to go into wishbone sleeve..ie where ball joint goes....and then another spacer ontop the wish bone and then ball joint on top, with longer high tensile bolts down through?

could you not fabricate some? go to a metal place
all you need to do like you said space it out a bit, i had a bit of an idea a while back, hopefully get it into action soon :)

heres what i thought........eat your heart out cad design! lol

balljointextender.jpg

red spacer goes in where ball joint should be bolted....ontop the wishbone blue spacer sits and ontop that the ball joint sits, and then all mounted together.....

red will be same dimensions asd origninal ball joint, blue will differ depending how much it needs lifting! any reasons why this couldnt work?

Certainly didn't cost $300!

Won't be needing them when I go VR6 Front end as they won't fit.

damn you stu, i had a similar idea, i thought i could of made a killing :p
where did you get them from/price mate?
thanks

I got em off a group buy run on CGTI, they were made in america and shipped over. Cost about £115

nice bit of kit, heatreated too.

thanks mate, if you do sell them/take them off, let me know of the dimensions if you can (pics would be cool too) i'll try and shove into cad, and ask if they can be made from metal places!

TBH I can't tell the difference, its not like adding 50bhp with a remap!

The strength of the balljoint is being clamped inside the wishbone, bolting it on top of the wishbone with spacers would mean you'd be totally reliant on the 3 M8 bolts holding it all together, Hi-tensile bolts or not it would only take hitting a pothole at speed to sheers the bolts off.

yeah the same as a normal ball joint? i assume being that way, all the weight is then back on the ball joint as it should?

With the BJ extenders the wishbones are more of less level, the tie rods have a tapered spigot so can only put in one way, unless you drill them out of course which isnt really advisable!
