19" Alloy Question

I have a question regarding the ride quality of 19" alloys.

Looking at buying an Fr with the 17" standard wheels.

These I want to replace not sure to go for 18" or 19" wheels.

I know that the 19" will look better, but no good if it make the ride stupidly hard and uncomfortable.

Thought that I would ask you lovely people for your take on this.

When I'm 4/5 up passengerwise, I get some rubbing on the rear arches when the rear suspension is under compression with 19's (235/35/19 ET45)

The ride is slightly more tramliney at times, but isn't terrible (you may notice it more coming from 17's).

To be honest they aren't as good for outright handling (weigh more unless you get Team Dynamics or Dymags!), they take some feel away from the steering, reduce lateral grip in rain / snow, so I think 18's are the best compromise overall if you aren't just looking for phat hoops.

Thanks Warren for your reply, looks over practicality, that is the question...

Much as I hate to be practical the 18's do make sense.

I'm running 225/35/19 with an ET of 45. no rubbing of the arches even with 5 in the car. The 225's offer good rim protection as well!

same as above...

when i was running 235s, i was 4 up and didnt get any rubbing.

i shall be going down 50mm on the 225s tomorrow, so shall see how that goes:)

imo, 19s if u have the aero kit adn are gonna lower it.

18s if your staying with Fr/standard bumpers.
