Thinking of purchasing a CR FR TDI Leon, should have had a test tonight but the car was out. Anything to look out for on the test?

I currently qualify for the government scrappage scheme and Seat are offering £3500 on 2.0L diesels.

Any tips on further discount/haggling? What could I expect?

I asked tonight and got an "I'm not sure we can do more" response...

or do you know of some friendly dealers? Seat Cars Direct??

What options do you recommend?

Many thanks :)

Just take it out for a good long test drive and have a good play with everything.

The £3500 is on cars registered by 31st Jan you may be lucky to find a FR TDi in stock but I would doubt it as they are in demand.

We ot ours through Seatdirect and at 2K discount no scrappage were the cheapest along with another broker after having a good search.

10% seems a realistic discount figure but many dealers will not budge on price.

The conveinence pack is a must and either bluetooth or if you can stretch to it the Media Pack (Sat Nav) Having larger wheels is nice and a personal choice I stuck with 17" for greater ride comfort and liked the design.

Honest John is quoting drivethe deal as best deal on leons at the minute.

Seat Leon 2.0 TDI CR FR 5dr £17,553 Saving £1,893

Probably won't then add scrappage on top, but worth keeping in mind if you miss out on scrappage.

Scrappage puts it at 16k.

I wish I had realised the end date when I was talking to the dealer earlier in the month...

After driving my FL FR tdi for the last 6 days :D i cant think of anything that you need to "look out for".

+1 for the media and convenience pack here... must have options imo, the media pack adds the bluetooth, sat nav and upgraded mfd screen. the convenience pack adds rear parking sensors, auto lights and wipers, auto dimming rear view mirror and the funky red down lights from the mirror.

i went with the standard 17's as well... more because the other options were more important to me. i do love the look of them though, much better than the pre FL wheels.

I went for the above with optional 18" wheels. IMHO the new 17" wheels are better than the ones I have on my 57' plate FR but just fancied going for 18s. In black they look :D

im in exactly the same boat, went to dealer today and was pleasently suprised at being offered 3500 for my V plate A6 Avant.
he didnt say i had to register the new car before end of jan. he said i could make the deal now and when the new car arrives wasnt a problem.

i'll ask about this tomorrow.
going back to test drive a 170 CR manual and a petrol DSG to get a feel for teh separate ingredients. sadly they dont have a 170 CR DSG FR in as yet.
as my A6 is auto tiptronic with buttons on steering wheel i have a love for the whole idea of keeping my hands on teh wheel and changing gear, the new style DSG will be just tonnes better.

see what happens tomorrow!

hers a few pic of my fr at the dealers to tempt you apologies for quality (camera phone)

Nice Car! I picked mine up last week - same colour & spec but with the 18's - nearly crashed it a few times playing with the toys!

As for buying advice - its cheaper than a golf and looks better too!

but really nothing to look out for - the TDI CR engine pulls well is much smoother than my old PD engine (its only done 200 miles so i haven't floored it yet!) and the suspension is firm but not excessive (in my opinion) but probably better on 17's (bit more road/tyre noise on 18's)

Bluetooth & Media sytem are excellent options (but if the voice control could work out the difference between saying four and store i wouldn't have to look so stupid shouting at the car :censored: !)

The cornering headlights are odd at first (as is the fog light that comes on)

The only complaint i have - if you can call it one - is that i don't like how high it sits off the wheels!

Yeah I did go to Hobin but it was the Bury branch. They called me up as I bought my petrol DSG FR from them in 08. They were doing a really good deal on the FR so couldnt resist. Desipte the few niggles with the pre FL (i.e. hardish ride even on 17s) I just love the leon. Dealer said its the type of car that puts a smile on your face. He's not wrong.

Where are you in the north west?

Live in wigan but work in Leyland got mine from Hobins Preston , well 2 cars (company lease)

Not enough in the budget to get the 18" wheels but to be honest Ive always been a gadget man so the toys come first.

How long till u get yours

I got my FR serviced there twice. Good service in my opinion. I'm looking at the min 12 weeks so will probably be the 1st week of April I hope. Gadgets are great. Can't wait to play with the media system. Thought I'd try 18s for a change. Either way we will both be very happy with our cars I think! I work in burnley so the tdi is good for the economy.
