Hey.Few problems with my ibiza at the moment, the 3 main problems are my engine management light is always on (been on since iv had it for nearly 3years now, lots of people have looked at it including seat garage and no one has fixed it) problem 2 is a major sqeek throughout the car, when accelerating, breaking, over bumps etc, generally when the car is moving and problem 3 is the latest...when the car is off and locked, the speed/petrol/rev and temp dials are still lit up,only dim but still i know its not right.
Any help would be appraciated thanks

I've also been having problems with my engine management light. It has been coming on when I have been sitting in traffic. The engine will begin to 'chug' the longer I sit in traffic. any1 encountered a problem like this???

I took it to a garage and the monitor said there was a problem with the 2nd cylinder. I replaced the cylinder coil but only a few days later the engine light is back on?? Can any1 shed any light on this for me????

Its an 2006 Ibiza ref

did you replace the spark plug too? or was it cleaned when you replaced the coil? misfires can foul the plugs? get it sorted though because when the check engine light is on the engine tends to over fuel and this can wreck your cat, it happend to me. plus, i was told by my garage that when a coil goes is best to replace all. just my advice :)

get vagcom stuck on it and have it scanned for faults, find faults...fix em....clar them and voila lights out

not sure about 2nd problem, maybe needs new bushes springs or shocks....maybe just needs new brake pads and disks.

problem 3...i have this too but only my milage counter stays slightly lit. not sure why but w/e i just leave it be for time being

Didn't replace or clean the spark plug, only the coil. Will get them all checked. Hope that will sort the problem. Hope this work wont b too expensive :) Thanks 4 advice.

Also, i bought the car 2 months ago from a private car dealer. There was no warranty on the car, does this mean that I can't go back to him and ask him to fix it??

There is no such thing as "sold as seen" from a trader unless it is VERY CLEARLY written in the contract of sale and you sign it.

Dealers are obligated by law to provide a 3 year waurentee with any car sold, iirc the customer cant even sign this away in the sales contract as it is mandatory.
Take the car back to the place you bought it along with a well writen letter stating a resonable amount of time (14 days is perfect) for the work to be carried out in. If everything isnt how you want it with the car you are well within your rights to refuse the car and ask for your money back.
Not alot of dealers would let it go this far but its good to know your rights just incase.

If you do end up having trouble contact consumer direct who will handle it and will get trading standards involved also keep copys of any letters and make sure anything agreed with the dealer is kept in writing as alot of people get caught out this way.

its not expensive at all. you can do it yourself. you can even replace them for next to nothing. just need the right sized socket to take them out. mines a 2002 1.2s and it wassize 15 socket. vague i know but i cant remember the measurement like mm it might be. if the plugs are fouled then this can cause misfires so worth a check.

"Sold as seen" or "Trade Sale" have no meaning in law. The trader can write it and you can sign it - still does not mean anything if you are a retail customer (i.e. not involved in the motor trade yourself and not selling the car on for profit).
