Creaking sound from front during forward/backward movements

I have had an intermittant creaking sound from the front of my 03 TDI for some time now. It only occurs when some sort of forward/backward jerky motion is made - such as pulling off, or changing from 1st to 2nd gear, or easing off the accelerator quickly. Can also be heard if mess around pushing clutch in and out to get the car jerking, and also when stopping. It used to only really occur in wet/damp conditions, but is now more or less occuring all the time (might be because it is winter and therefore colder and wetter). It doesn't occur going over bumps, so I don't think it is suspension. The sound seems to come from the front behind the steering wheel, so more central than anything. Any ideas?

OK, so looking at other similar threads, I suspect the brushes on the front wishbone. At least I have something to point my local garage towards now..

I'd kind of agree with you , fitting Cupra bushes would avoid a repeat of this problem or potential problem - they will be a lot better than the improved version of the voided bush.

Hi, we have had a series of ominous sounds from the front of our mk4 seat ibiza 1.2, we replaced the bushes but this did not cure our problem, we then fitted a new performance anti roll bar kit, with polyurethane bushes, rather than the other rubber bushes. The sounds have now changed to a creaking sound mid front of the car, we are still trying to identify this sound and are thinking it may be the drive shaft or the transmission mount.

heu mines got the same noise i changed the bushes on my anti roll bar but maybe thinking its either 1) strut tops suspension.
2) wishbone and bushes.

Hiya, we found that replacing just the bushes didnt work and were advised by a guy where we bought a perforamance anti-roll bar kit, that the anti-roll bar had probably got distorted so that is why we went for the complete kit, I would 100% recommend the polyurethane bushes rather than the rubber ones as the first are harder wearing. I am tearing my hair out a bit, as one noise gets fixed, another appears, the latest creaking noise I think may be either the drive shaft or the transmission mount being mis-aligned, it appears that the car in general developes extra creaks and wheezes according to the weather!! thought that was isolated to human beings lol :)

Yeh it does seem to be a fault with that age and model of ibiza.
