yesss i have searched and read through the FAQs but i see alot of posts about 1.2's and nothing that answers my questions :D so please dont tell me to search! anyway my 130 1.9 tdi sport needs a new exhaust, i believe i can just replace the plastic valance bit at the bottom of the pre-facelift rear bumper to make way for the new pipe! is this right? who has done this and what does it cost? also milltek or blueflame or others? and i've seen some posts about having a straight thru system on a tdi with no cat? i'm not sure on that - if someone can tell me more about what i should be looking at then please do :)

Before I fitted my cupra bumper mine had the pre-facelift rear bumper with the valance cut out and it was fitted as a replacement part. So yes it can be done, don't know price or part number but just ring somewhere like tps or local seat parts place.
As for exhaust, there are loads of posts about this at the moment and loads of options. Most people go for miltek but they are pricey, most aftermarket exhaust manufacturers offer something for your car and most the good ones advertise on this forum.
Alot of people including myself get custom exhausts made and these will vary from say £200 - £600 depending on who makes it. The best power wise would be turbo back with no silencers or cat on any turbo car in theory. Mine has just a sport cat and it isn't loud at all, nice burble when ticking over and booting it but when in traffic or motorway its quiet.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

Rach, you are probably best off getting a custom exhaust place to make you one. On a diesel, you don't need a cat or any silencers really so you could have a straight through system. The beauty of a custom jobbie is that you can get it to look and sound as you wish.

The plastic bit of the valence can be bought from an stealer, but give Sere Motors a try on here first!

thanks so far everyone and the part number for the valance is helpful too! i did not think to look in the part numbers section for that bit! i'm glad that bit can be done then, just need to pick an exhaust, i'm tempted to just get JKM to fit a milltek for me, easy done then! but maybe i should be more adventurous!

Almost £350 for cat-back alone is quite steep! But then it is a Milltek and proven quality etc.

For a bit more performance and noise, turbo-back is the way forward and you can get a custom exhaust made for the same and probably cheaper actually! There is a Powerflow dealer in Southampton, maybe give them a bell.
