Does anyone know if there is an art or an easy way to get these jacking covers back on. Just had 4 new tyres yesterday, this morning the passenger front cover was hanging off. I have tried several times with lots of :scream: swearing etc :head:. I think you are supposed to slot in the top section, then the bottom bit should clip in, except mine doesn't want to clip in! Nothing looks broken either.

Anyone got any suggestions or had a similar problem?

They're a real pain in the *rse, but there is a knack.
Sounds like you're going about it the right way, but you can reach your hand round the back of the plastic skirt and press down from behind as you push the clips on the cover up.
Look on the upside, at least once there in they don't come off easily, more than can be said for the old Ibiza one's I had!!!

Good luck, you'll get the knack and its easy after that ;)
One more word of advice, wear some gloves if you can, you can get your fingers pinched by the skirts, i've lost some serious skin to those b*ggers in the past !!!

Any luck??

You could try what I did -

Cut off the offending tabs, tape cover in place, drill through cover & skirt, screw in self tapping screw.

If it was good enough for the Ford Escort side skirts...

Mine's still in the boot - lots of :hammer: a bit of :box: then some :uzi: and finally I was :head: . Then I gave up!! The tyre fitters said they don't take the cover off and it must have just fallen off, give them their due, they spent 20mins trying to get it back on and couldn't! I even went to the local Seat dealer who had a go in the car park and couldn't get it on, they said I have to book it in to go on the ramp which is a 2 week wait!!!!!!! I'm gonna leave it off until the 30k service (in 3 weeks or so) then leave it to the experts, I have no patience for things like this!

Luckily as the car is black, you can't notice it's not there really!!!

I know this is an old thread, but just had to say thanks for the tips. I ended up pushing a screwdriver from the back between the sill and the bottom of the car (to push the sill away from the car) and a little tap on the bottom of the cover and it went straight on. Thanks again for your help guys (was going mad last night!!!)

hard upwards whack with the heel of your hand. A few attempts later you'll hear the most satisfying sound known to mankind ... "click"

that way you don't scratch the paint either - your hand will feel better after a few hours

screw them on? lol - thats just lazy. Trying to clip them back on the way they should is 1/2 the fun :)

I use a screwdriver and put above the skirt but underneath the skirt, and leaver it away (gently) from the car - then try to clip it on. This works a treat for me :)

One of mine came off after having new tyres fitted... got a lovely chamfered edge all around it after it dragged and bashed along the road

After lots of swearing and thumping I got the damn thing back on, but it looks crap... need a new one, with paint on it...
