no mate not yet the bloke that **** has do his elec work had a looked at it today and he now needs some realy layouts and all sorts of diagrams as he thinks ive got a ignition problem or a immobilizer issue

final conclusion is that im now going to keep the cupra
Glad to hear your keeping her. I just think they are a worthwhile car to keep hold of, yes they have niggles, but what car doesnt? I bought mine over a mk4 golf because the cupra is so rare. Apart from meets i have probably seen 1-2 in my area. Easy to mod, and a hoot to drive
I ran a standard mk3 Cupra for 2 years and 25k miles. Only problem i ever had was one coil pack. The most reliable car I've ever owned. Before that I ran an Elise - unreliable doesn't even begin to describe it! IMO the mk3 cupra is great value for the performance you get.
I've got a mk4 pd130 now - great engine but it's cost me £800 in suspension and steering problems in 10 months. Saved a lot on fuel though!

. friend at work had one went through 2 headgaskets in 6 months ended up selling it and buy a edition 30 golf

i am up in leeds and have not seen another mk3 cupra while ive been out plenty of mk4s. love the cupra plus it

Yeah the head gaskets on the K series engine are made from cheese, we had that problem last year!
Ended up replacing it with a Land Rover modified head gasket, (they used the same engines in the Freelander's they got annoyed with people bringing them back, so Land Rover re-designed the head gasket.)
just to add some balance here...had my mk3 cupra since I purchased new in 2001 and will have to say its been pretty much faultless ever since and has never let me down in the 70k miles ive put on her. Granted its not all been effortless plain sailing what with 2 months of hell about 6 years back when the coilpacks let go...this slight setback was intensified tenfold by the total lack of competance by the seat dealership network which incidently has totally put me off buying a new warrentied car ever again.

Most problems start popping up once you start modding really. But you also gota think these cars are getting old now so to think that you wont have any problems would just be silly.
Mine ran great when it was all good, but as with any car it had its problems. Since turning over to the dark side tho i wont ever look back. Now running 320 ish bhp and have had only a turbo gasket pop in 17 months of ownership, can a modded mk3 complete with that, not a chance

have 2 mates taht have skylines but 500+engines and they have problems to
Skylines can easy be tuned to 600-1000+bhp if you have the money to spent
