Hi to all,

Im looking at a switchable remapping soulution for my leon K1, Has anyone been down this route. My golf MK5 has the gcl tuning custom remap as well as the wifes 330D (for economy). They also offer a switchable system much the same as chipped uk , celtic tuning and many others just wondering peoples thoughts and if any has one on a K1 ? Im not interested in a blufin as there not custom and do not offer that personal touch.

If any has any input please feel free !

APR do switchable throught the cruise control, otherwise there's you usual suspects like Revo with select switch. You'll see 300+ hp without breaking a sweat (or the bank for that matter). There's dozens of people on here with assorted maps, a quick search should pull up loads of threads.

While I appreciate you might not want to change your hardware (because you want a switchable map) the better known companies such as APR, REVO etc... have well defined and tested progression routes through to stage 2+ yielding up to 360hp.

it not just about the out right power for me its how it drives im in the trade and have had revo superchis and other generic maps however they just dont give you that " X " factor unil i had my custom remap i thought my generic map was awsome now ive compared the two both on a dyno and by driving the custom just shoots it down !

Im looking for a custom switchable system im going to see my local tuner that has remapped my our other vehicles on tuesday so will hopefull have some idea by then

Custom will always be better than just a generic map, if you have mods to support the custom map that is.

Correct ! She will be having her "make over" this week ive orderd the de cat, panel filter, intercooler and hard pipe kit. If the bank balence is good we may be seeing the 3 inch exhaust rear it ugly little head !:fool:

Really depends on what you are planning to do with your car. Most stage 1 (stock car) will have a generic map. Also your gains depend on how much your car is putting out of the box (each car is different)
GIAC is another mapping company that has the ability to be switched. You get a control box that plugs into your ODBC port and you can select Stock, Valet and Mapped modes.
REVO as mentioned before and APR do good solid switchable maps too.

I used to have bluefin, now i have a shark perfomance remap both switchable, but shark performance is the better of the two remaps.

Says for the Ed 30, but same engine and ecu so no difference

http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/b...n Golf (1K) 2004-2009 GTi Edition 30 2.0TFSi/

you can have him send you the STS and then load do the mapping from your own home via the internet, or you can do as i did, and go there, get it installed by him, get the car logged, set it up how i want it, and then get him to load it onto the STS handset so best of both worlds. end,

hes based in the mansfeield/nottingham area. I travelled 300 milke round trip to get it done and it was worth it in the end, just highlighted how bad the bluefin stage 2+ was on my car

sounds good the sts looks the same as the gcl tuning st3 and they do custom remapping. if i can get the custom mapping loaded to the unit to switch this would be better for me if at all possible ?

Like i say im off the whole week to treat the old girl to a make over so ill do some digging and see what i come up with.

Right the results are in !

Numbers i should see ...

335 - 345 BHP i will be a happy man if i can achive this im assured this will happen !

Is this realistic ?

Custom remap will be developed to me from a my standard remap @ £330 all in, also i can have dyno runs for £70 if i wish to  (£70 a bit steap ? )

The Switchable remap for the k1 is currently on offer at £390 Result ! this means i can any x2 remaps plus the standard (for the dealer) i belive you can only switch when the car is not running ?

I have used these guys before and have seen good reviews from friends and other dealers just dont know what to go for now ?

if your car is bog standard, with no mods at all, id say tell them to do one cos that is not going to happen. any tuner that quotes figures like that for a stage 1 map is not worth any further talk time in my opinion. differnt mattet though if you have other mods as then it will be possible

stage 1 maps 280-310hp dependant on what dyno you use

stage 2 maps- with intake and full exhaust system 310 -350 hp dependant on what dyno you use,

stage 3 maps with - all the above and fuel pump and intercooler- 330-360Hp dependant on what dyno you use.

I say dependant on what dynos you use, purely as some dynos read high and others low. so quotes have to be taken with a pinch of salt. expecting figures in between those that i have quoted is probablty the best bet

Sorry sorry my mistake

This is with my new forge intercooler (still in bits with the bumper off) and with de cat pipe only not the full system... This is based on a min increase due to it being custom made thay say they can say for 100% but based upon other vehicles with this set up.

My Golf was remapped by them and it just awsome also my wifes 330D has been remapped by the same people so i know there not messing me around and that the work and customer service is very good friends have also had good feedback also.

What make is their Dyno Clive?. Think you will need a HPFP if you realistically want to achieve those figures

im getting one custom made from ss ... and yes it will have lambda "holes" im planing on going 3" inch as a good friend of mine has the VXR Astra and sounds the nuts ! I will be going three inchs from the turbo until the first centre box for now ! The hardest part first...

I question the fact that 'custom' remaps really make that much different to a general mass produced road car. If you have very specific mods such as WMI, big turbo conversions, then fair enough, but for the general staged stuff I don't think it makes a massive difference. Horses for courses I guess.
