hey guys, been a while since i posted on this, was wondering what everyone thought about the MAX power obtainible for a mk3 ibiza.

integrated engineering do a 2l tfsi crank stroker kit which can take a bored out 1.8t block out to 2.1 and with a big turbo i image the most your talking is 750hp, i know of a programmer in greece who built a 700hp s3 in 2007 which was b4 the stroker hit so im assuming you would get at least 50hp from the extra 200cc

on the other hand we have the v6 family to concider, eg, 2.8/3.2 vr6 engines and the supercharge or turbocharge them, all i can find is one ibiza vr6t with 400hp and 700+nm of torque but it doesnt say what turbo that is so it could be as small as a K03/k04 or something

so anyway if anyone cares to dream with me what the most hp could be squeezed into an ibiza is feel free
eg. 2.9vr6t with owen performance garrett gt4202 twin schroll turbo charger, rated for 700-1000hp:drool::drool::drool::drool:

If that Greek chap has taken a 1.8 to 700 horses, it's possible that they won't be able to push any more from the stroked version. Alot of big numbers are more limited by the ability of the engine to not go pop, rather than the displacement. Many Ford Cosworth owners have regretted turning a turbo up to it's maximum capacity and watching the top of the engine head towards the big garage in the sky.

There is a fantastic article on here about someone doing alot of VR5/VR6 work for a car build, the guy knows what he's talking about and he's getting some pretty big numbers. I believe there was mention of the VR engines being originally diesel designs, so they are very strong for what they are. They're big engines though, even with the narrow V design. For an Ibiza I'd be thinking of following the Clio V6 design, and losing the back seats.

If you want to dream big numbers, go have a look at that modded Datsun thingy that you can get on Forza, that's a nutter car!

Personally I'm a fan of BHP/ton rather than outright BHP, getting reasonably good numbers out of one of the smaller engines would be my idea of fun. I remember seeing a throttle body kit for the Vauxhall 1.6 16v engine, that was capable of pushing it over 200BHP, normally aspirated!

first 2 things to ask yourself honestly when considering such a project

how much willing to spend ?

where is it gonna be used ?

flapper your always such a "glass is half empty" addition to these conversations

yes i am concidering i sold my siver k03 hibrid ibiza and bought a red cupra R with 18k miles and no engine and now it has an engine and a gt2x and i want to go bigger again and i feel qhite capable of tuning the life out of ibizas now so when i sell the R i plan on using the money to go made with another mk3 ibiza

therefore explaining that YES i am going to go through with such a build and that the car will be used for drag racing and making really cool youtube videos for you all to watch

1000hp polo sounds like the footsteps to follow

hell no i'm all for it - more the merrier but just being a realist thats all

seen many too many unfinished projects over the years and lost count of how many times i have seen a anti lag built track monster on coilie's been built with 30k sunk in it only for the owner who doesnt know one end of a spanner to another turn round and moan that the suspension squeaks and it's to laggy and unreliable for when he wants to drive to work

also just asking a simple question or two usually weedles out the gobshite dreamers who just want braggin numbers down the pub

love to see it drag racing by the way, few years back i tried to convince the Street Eliminator UK directors to start a FWD class but as of yet not been enough backing, one day though
