Yeh its surprising just how much a difference the little mods make to how the car looks at performs.
my bumper was like yours but I did cut the valance personally I regret doing it now as although it looks alright it can be a pain if the tip I welded on moves and rattles against the bumper I would recommend a scorpian cat back system from ebay for the mk4 golf it has the hidden tips so will look standard but sound good aswell then get the valances colour coded as it gives the car a wider looking stance when lowered and alloys fitted.
yeh defo go for 17's no bigger as also if you go bigger the steering rack wont take 18's as its different to the cupra's so will rub on the arches with 18's.
I got the grill from david at sere motors he is a very helpful bloke heres a link to his section of the forum on here just ask him for the upper outer and inner honeycomb cupra grills.
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=249
there was a fair amount of work invloved in making the grill fit as it originally comes in a 5 foot box with a plastic bumperbar moulded to it but after a bit of cutting I had mine fitted perfectly.
where abouts are you from matey if your local can always give you a hand with a few mods

cheers :) well im want the exhaust to come out the back so im gonna just get a new valence :p now i just need to save 570 for the rims i want,
btw did you buy a new suspension kit or just new springs?
I'm on the Isle of man :p haha my local garage have a pretty extortionate price list, so me and my uncle would probs do the mods

P.s. loving the project!

hi, thanks fella and welcome :D :)
i was considering doing the same, but altogther the costs for the entire body kit came to over 1k so i didnt bother :p haha

have you thought about 15 /16" rims , on low profiles , and lowering the car , will keep /improve the acceleration , plus help look lower
check what can be fitted over your brakes tho

yep must say all the little attention to detail makes a great difference

like my old car , smoothed the indicators out of wings , washer jet nozzles out of bonnet and ariel off locks etc 7 all contours (basically everything i could i did exept handles ) , totally changed the looks of it

im not that interested in lowering the car that much because of the road around me :p haha lots of speed bumps and steep hills, pot holes... haha its not worth it :(

really? wow how much work did that involve? any pics? :D sounds ace

I tried to get a valance for mine that didn't look stupid but turned out only way to do it is to buy another bumper with the cut out or cut the one you've got.
I just bought the springs mate and did them at work cost me £52 for the springs and fitting didn't cost me anything.
Keep an eye out on eBay for some alloys mate cos there's alot of styles similar to the one you like for Less cash I know mine arnt the same but got mine for a steal at £190 brand new for the set and there £140 each from alloy wheel shops. To do your calipers red do what I did and go down to halfrauds and pick up a £9 tin of caliper paint does a nice job and gives you shed loads left after you have finished.

hmm problem is i cant use ebay because of paypal and stuff
ye aim plannin on gettin some of that, you done it yourself? how easy/difficult is it?
£190? thats well cheaper than anything i can find! haha hmm sometimes i wish i lived on the mainland, so i dont have to pay extortionate delivery prices :/ lol

Yeh the springs were cheap and 20mm will be a nice compromise of comfort and handling. I dropped mine 35mm but it's wearing on the shocks and the rides a bit bumpy but the roads arnt terrible here so I can get away with it. Yeh the brakes were easy to do I will put up a couple of pictures tomorow for you to show how they look.
Yeh I was very lucky with the wheels as they were dirt cheap just wanna get them powdercoated black now and go stealth

Hello everybody,

This is my first post here at the forum :funk:

I also have a 2002 MK1 1.4 16v Leon, just like yours but gray (not silver), the car is great but it has no power, 75bhp is not enough in that body.

I've noticed that Seat has the same 1.4 16v engine but with +-100bhp, does anyone knows the difference and if is possible to upgrade from 75 to 100bhp?

Cheers,
Hugo

They do the 100bhp model with the same engine code in the vw polo and lupo but im sure you have to do a bit of work to make the engine fit and I think the gearbox is different aswell its not really worth doing the swap better off saving the money for a cupra!!!
Greg i've got some pics of them brakes for you there on my readers ride thread as I was updating it heres a link to it matey: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=219167

Ah I see. You could try it only a matter of taking paint off if you don't like it. Have you got anything else on the outside of car thats chrome/silver:confused:
