Yep, twice.

First time, in 2005, I talked the Mrs in to test driving a Leon, with the hope that she'd buy an LCR. She actually bought the demo 1.4 after the test drive as she didn't want a higher capacity and they told us there would be no more new 1.4s at that dealer because the Mk2 was due out any day.

Second time, in 2009, I'd just sold my motorbike and was on a downer. The Mrs scoured the web for an LCR, knowing that I'd really wanted one since 2005, and found a nice example (for the money) down the road in Castle Donnington. To cheer me up she took me straight there after I got home from dropping the bike off. I don't know if I was just feeling desperate or what, but I snapped it up without a test drive or anything and I love it

what bike did you have i sold me r6 last summer  and i miss it now:cry:

The last one was a CB1000R mate; Fireblade engine in a naked, clocked 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, and that's from a detuned lump! Up to 85 it would actually leave a 'Blade standing, until aerodynamics really take hold. Would have annihilated an R6

going back to basics
I also bought the 1st one I saw but technically it was the 2nd, I originally had a £4k budget but due to unforseen circumstances it dropped to £1.5k and my hopes of a Cupra had dwindled, when I spotted one in auto trader for this price, when I phoned I was 10 mins too late but was told if the guy didn't buy it he'd phone me back, too late it went but just a week later I saw an X plate Sport for £1800, I went to see it, and was in 2 minds regarding the 136,000 miles on the clock...

...£1500, 1 year and 11,000 miles later its still serving its purpose very well.

Also, the first one I was going to get, the guy who bought it, also joined SCN, about 3 weeks later he was after a new engine.

I was actuallly just looking for a diesel monster to go from a-b. Then I saw a black LCR tucked in between a black SLK and a black S3. Same pricerange as the diesel I came to look at. So I said "HEllooooo! Whats THAT!?" Much better looking than bothe S3 and SLK. I bought it. Guess you can say love at first sight.

I bought the second I looked at!

First one looked ok but had had 5 owners (!). I unscrewed the oil cap and was greeted with a load of yellow mayonnaise so I walked away very quickly (so quickly I walked off with the keys and had to post them back to the garage!)

The second one I saw looked great and had 8k less on the clock than it said in the advert. I took it for a test drive and it was fine.

I bought the first one I looked, saw it on Ebay rang the lad and it turned out he was lived on the same road as me. Seemed decent so snapped it up.

Previous car was a Cooper S which I still have after learning Christmas is a bad time to sell a car.

Had a Mk3 Ibiza before,

And looked at 3 Leons and 2 Toledos, before deciding on the one I bought!

Bit fussy I know, but there was just something slightly wrong with all them, until I sat in the one I eventually ended buying and it was perfect!

Was worth having my head glued to autotrader & ebay for over a month though!

there was a limited selection when i was looking. I had been staking out auto trader, piston heads, ebay for a few weeks but there were very few new additions and what was there didnt look much use. After previous car hunts i didnt want to travel all over the country to look at supposedly mint cars that seem to turn into nails as i drove to see them.

Looked for months, drove a VRS then couple of V6 4motions,
Then hunted down a crisp Leon, first one I viewed I bought, had one owner and he was an engineer, so ultra well looked after. Viewed it first day the ad came out. Done deal!
I'd missed a couple before that.

Still have a left hooker Golf gti mk2 off the road for another month.
and a right hand drive too. (a little smoky though).

Previous drives Golf ralley,:D Astra SRI 8v mk2

i bought the first one i drove... had a look at some a3's and a4's but decided to spend a bit more going for LCR.

I had a Vectra 2.6 V6..... really loved the v6 growl but it doesn't compare to having a turbo!

well i bought mine back in the beginning of december not had it long still getting to grips with everything

i bought the first one i saw really, because there were not many about near where i live, many of the for sale adverts i kept seeing were up in scotland or somewhere very remote, which meant finding and looking at cupra's were next to impossible, i think there were a few local to me, i phoned around, i found a very nice example and it had been sold straight away, i looked on autotrader and piston heads found another two local ish phoned up again, sold, it seemed to me like they were selling very fast all the good ones!

Plus i had just recently just sold my corsa so getting about was an issue, and relying on other people to drive me to viewings is taking up their time, plus you don't want to have to travel to far

to me morally it seems wrong buying the first car you see, i would have liked to have shopped around but it was impossible in my case!

Of course i made sure the car i was looking at was worth the effort & had FSH and low miles for year only 2 previous owners

finally paid off i found a car fairly local and bought it very happy with it for a good price
