Removing a remap & selling on

The missus has finally worn me down- we're selling the Cupra for a more family orientated car. (Alfa 159 Sportwagon incase you were wondering)

So, before it goes back to the stealer, I was wondering how I could remove the remap & possibly sell it on.

Or is it a case of thanks for the memories & kissing 400 notes goodbye.

Thanks in advance.

you could take it back to the tuner you had the map loaded from and ask for the car to be reverted back to stock

That's what i'm thinking, but the RR session is circa £70.
But then what to do with the code?

Can I buy/borrow a bluefin handset to download it to?
Once the map has been on the car, can it be uploaded to another vehicle & work?

Map is a Superchips Stage 1 BTW.

If all of this is possible, does anyone want a cheap remap?

im not even sure how you think you could sell it???

they work one time only.

its an ecu upgrade all that you can do is revert it to standard. *(swith it on or off)

if your selling the car your probarly better off to advertise it as stage 1 remapped.....

I was unsure what could be done with it- hence the question.

I assumed it was a code that had to be put on my car & taken off- the bluefin controller retains the map once reverted to standard?

I also assumed it could be placed onto another Cupra.

Case of kissing it goodbye then by the looks of it.

If its bluefin then you can take the map off, however i suspect you have had a superchips map uploaded by a laptop, in which case take it back to where you had it mapped and ask them to put it back to factory settings, they may or may not charge but it won't need to go on to the rollers. Or you could just leave it on. And is a 159 really more family orientated ? I though there was more space in a Leon ?

You are correct, it was downloaded via laptop at a RR station. Worth asking I thought.
Thanks for the replies.

I've yet to test drive one, if that's true, then I'll have to look at something else. (E90 Touring or A4 Avant maybe)

I'm not too worried about moving on, as she's letting me have a new toy to compensate my loss- Honda VTR SP-1.

She doesn't know it yet, but that's what's happening:cartman:

guy at work has the 1 you are looking at and its horrible he never stops moaning lol

Audi A4 would be a better bet

Really?

I haven't heard much about them TBH. Thought they were better screwed together with the current line-up. They come really well specced too- which is a bonus, not so if anything goes hideously wrong.

What problems has he had?

There's something about the A4 that I don't want, I don't know what it is, but it just screams 'old man'. If you want a good looking A4, you're into the S-Lines, which apparently ride really harsh- one thing I hate about the Cupra.

Tough call really.

I'm still looking, but at the moment, any rep estate car is in the picture- including the Passat.

just sell the car with the map on. unless your bluefin, you cant get your money back.

S-line will ride much better than a cupra. Anything will ride better than a cupra LOL

A3 SLine and the ride is horrible, it makes the cupra feel like a rolls royce, the A4 Sline is softer (B7 model) but I would say its the same as a standard cupra. So if you don't like the ride on the cupra your not going to like either Audi. As a leftfield choice, go and look at a Jaguar X Type, go for the 2.2d sport preimum if you can. YOu should get a nice one for around 12k.

Wouldnt buy an Alfa. Too many problems assosiated with owning 1.

Passat is a nice car. Even the Sport models arent that bad comfort wise. Would choose the Passat over an A4 anyway. S-Line models are too crashy and the other models arent spec'd enough in my opinion.

May get shot down here, but how about a Mondeo? Always seem to get great write ups and after being in 1, they are really comfortable.

Could you just not take the ECU out and swap ECU'S with somebody who hasnt had their car Mapped

Aslong as its the same ECU it should be possible?

Passat seems to be the way to go at present.

New shape mondeo estates seem to be a little thin on the ground & I really hate the dashboard.

Havent tried a a3 sline but the new a4 s line was alright.

My mates R32 is silky smooth compared to my cupra aswell.

passat r36's are going for 23k new apparently btw.

Im just worried incase of complications i wont have my own ecu to put back on. he says he has done this procedure about 7 times before on different vags. What does everyone think?? is this feasable?

i think id just buy a revo map and have done, if he cocks it up you might need a new ecu etc etc. and then your back where you started, peice of mind and all.
