SEAT service or AMD service?

Car needs a first year service. Its fully stage 2 plus. Its not a year old yet so still in warranty. Car has had intermittent issues in the past which at the moment are gone, and have been around since before the car got modified. VAG COM brings up throttle body issues.

Now im just wondering whether I should get AMD to service the car or SEAT. AMD would be alot more convinient to me and would probably be cheaper also. But if this throttle body starts playing up again I would want to dump the car back to SEAT, they have looked at the issue before with no real success before the mods so would hopefully carry on with it if the issue returns even though now ive messed with it.

Or is it a case of now, you gotta pay to play, and because ive modded, I have to take the consequences of that and just pay for any future issues out of my own pocket? Any views?

As I found, it all depends on how accomodating your local dealer is. Mine strictly refuses to carry out any warranty work or routine servicing on a modified car as we all know. I don't see how they would be able to refuse a warranty claim on something like a door coming off (a bit extreme I know), even tho that part of the car has not been modified if you catch my drift?

I would take it to a local garage thats trusted (Like AMD), where your will probably receive better service anyway.

its a tough one, AMD will look after the car better and know what they are doing SEAT will just change the oil and probably damage it ..... they could possibly refuse any warranty claim anyway becasue of the modifications. I've always found it to be easier to make a claim if it has a full dealer history, they just don't seem to query it. Dealers do accept non franchise repairs on cars, when I sold my Golf to a VW dealer they asked if it was full history and it was, 2 services were with VW dealers the other with Jabba, i mentioned that it wasn' t a VW agent and they said fine it makes no difference to us ....

I would probably go to AMD and get a better service rather than leave it at seat and let some 12 year old rag it around the block, and if things do go wrong argue about it then or just take it to AMD they'll probably have a better chance of fixing it !

I remember your experience mate. My seat has got one chap who is also into modded cars, but his boss doesnt seem to be too keen to help out though.

Think I will just get AMD to do it all.

They will be doing my WALK, lowering spring, discs and pads and brake fluid so they might aswell service it I suppose.

i had my 2nd service at awesome gti and the 3rd will be at VWRacing when it goes in for clutch and diff at the end of march, i carnt wait to see what they say about the chirpy cambelt thing and will prob blame that on the intake but we'll have to see.

yeah keep me updated. BTW with your car have you ever had the clutch pedal stick to the floor once it gets hot after a run?

no never had that one, it has once you've just come to a stop with the clutch down the revs rise above 1k, dont know if this is normal or signs of clutch slip.

Poverty, have SEAT replaced your throttle pedal? My Derv was idling incorrectly and was down to an error with the throttle pedal, if they won't do it under warranty, its either £85 or £110 for a new one, can't remember and don't have my warranty receipt to hand

yes ive had issues of it idling incorrectly aswell, SEAT havent changed any parts as of yet. They just purely updated the ecu and sent me on my way.

Yeah, new throttle pedal sorted me out it wasn't measuring the tilt or pressure correctly or however those electronic gaming lookalike throttles work

well SEAT dealerships are franchises a bit like restaurants , just because 1 restaurant makes brill food doesnt mean that the next franchised one will be the same , i would rather an enthusiast works on my car and one that you can actually talk to who doesnt just shrug their shoulders when you ask a question.

if AmD is on your doorstep then its a no brainer

No enthusiasts in dealers then?

Just remember for the mapped cars to tell your dealer it has been mapped before you take it in. There are a lot of flash upgrades out and about at the moment for a few issues so if you do go in with an issue you could well come out without your remap.
