J0N's (Jonnyjonjon's) LCR. Gone But Not Forgotten.

Do they keep much crap off the car?

So far they're doing a fine job, most notably when the car is dry there is hardly any salt on the side.

EDIT: Notice how in this post I resisted the temptation to say "Nice flaps"

huhuhuhuhu

Ha ha, I'm a bit dissapointed that it's taken this long.

engine bits look good, i've got the black bits comming to me, lol

Cheers, Jake. The black caps look cool and not that many people on here have them.

I've only gone and spanked the car, into the side of a moving bus no less!

Drove the car home from work which is Matlock to Chesterfield in the driving snow two
days on the trot and then arranged a lift for the following day. Then, I go to Iceland to
see Kerry and Coleen (and to get some pizza's). Driving out of the car park and I have to
say that I was hardly moving, pressed the brakes and off it went, damn. Well luckily the
bus was also going slow and I just 'touched' it as it was passing.

Had to get these from TPS;

Foglight surround/grille was £7.65 and the Centre Grille was £28.57 so £42.56 inc VAT.
The headlight can be re aligned and other than that is not damaged.
The bumper has to come off and be re aligned and then resprayed by a body shop guy
I've used a few times before and who's work is excellent. This comes in at £250 (mates rates).

If every cloud has a silver lining the bumper wanted a respray anyway but I was
at least going to wait for better weather.

Comments welcome, (be gentle). :)

:ban: I feel for mate last time it was weather like this i damaged my car had to have a new wheel and disc. They dont seem to be the best cars for driving this weather but suppose mostly down to pilot error:shrug:

It could have been so much worse. A bit earlier or a bit faster then I would have had a bus in the side of me. The bumper does'nt need replacing, it just wants tidying up and respraying which like I said before I was going to do anyway. Could have done without being £300 lighter though.

True, no one to blame but myself but as I said I'd driven through some horrific weather on some really bad roads and got through totally unscathed, nip to the shops and a patch of ice has your pants down.

J0N, you're a ******! Ha ha, only kidding mate, couldn't resist after your post in the 2010 mod topic.

Glad that it's not actually as bad as it looks, because it does look like you need a new bumper. Nobody seems to believe me about how hard it is to drive an LCR in the snow, especially since most of us don't have winter tyres. Had I known that we'd have weather like this then I'd have considered it months ago instead of the new F1s.

Still, at least you're all right, right? Still going along to the Cheggy meet on the 30th?

Damn - thats harsh, but like you say, it could have been a lot worse if all you really have is front bumper damage. Hopefully it wont cost you too much to sort it all out. You should def get some before and after pictures so that we can see a comparison after!

Most important thing is that youre fine though, recently, I was on the M1 and a car in the middle lance lost control did a full 360+ across lanes and almost took me out in the fast lane. At the time i was thinking you better not hit my car - but thinking about it later, you realise what a lucky esacape you have sometimes when things like this happen. Puts it in perspective doesnt it...

Hang on, what am I saying.... Get that car fixed - needs to be pristine again :)

Right car for the right conditions mate. My LCR goes like a rocket when it's nice and dry but it's sh1t in the snow. I've borrowed my Mum's Arosa to go to work in tonight as my headlight is so far out of line. It has skinny little tyres, a 1ltr engine and questionable brakes, perfect for this weather, it's the unstoppale snow chariot. lol.
As for winter tyres, yes we could all do with some but my F1's cost £490 so there's not a lot of change left for another set.
I'll definately be a the Chezzy meet now, showing off with my mint front end, lol.

Yeah thanks. Did'nt I also mention in this post that I was open to sympathy too?

yeah I know....sorry mate:)

although it may only be scratches on the surface, you sure it has not done any damage behind the bumper?
