FR Order Placed

Hi All,

I had a company order pending for a Golf GTD, the monthly money available just stretched for a basic model with upgraded alloys.

However, its been bugging me that i really wanted Sat Nav and DSG. So i managed to cancel the order and in place have ordered:

Leon FR TDI DSG
Candy White
18" Alloys
Seat Media
Convenience Pack
Silver and Black Seats

All of the above came to the same cost as a basic GTD.

Do you think i have done the right thing ?

Also anybody got any pics of a white fr facelift ?

Thanks
Paddy

Definitely think you did the right thing. The face lifted FR has the same 170hp engine as the Golf GTD, imo looks better and as standard comes with more kit. Your options will have you a very nice car indeed. The FR i demo'd before placing my order (through a company car scheme as well) had all the options you have listed apart from DSG and it was a splendid thing.

ok, the interior isnt on the same level as the golf but its very easy to look past all that when driving the car and standing out in the crowd !

plus, you know you have better vfm !

definitely done the right thing mate. Friend of mine has a GTD and has screw all extras in his car compared to mine and is spending a fortune putting them in. SEAT's are all made from audi and VW parts so you aren't losing any quality. Another point is these days everyone drives a golf so its nice to have something different, with all the extras you've got you'll definitely have no regrets!

Enjoy!

Yep. The interior is a bit plastic looking but i'd rather have a plastic looking interior with sat nav than the standard GTD layout. I'm sick of taking my Tom Tom up and down :)

Welcome to the forum :)

The Leon FR is mechanicaly the same as the GTD in fact Seat helped sort out the required weight and torque issues that the XDS system had with the CR 170 unit and now the Golf has XDS as standard on GTD. The main difference is that the suspension is more supple on the GTD and is better insulated from the noise outside. Cabin quality is also better on the GTD.

But as you have found out the Leon is so much better value for money and looks allot more sporty IMO than the rather bland Golf. You have a nice spec there!!

Thanks. I read that the road noise can be a little loud, i'll just turn the stero up a notch :D

I found that when i was telling the people i ordered a Golf GTD they all thought it was a Golf 'GT' so i had to explain what the GTD was, which by Top Gear rules is seriously uncool and boring.

Now I'll say Leon FR DSG, simple.
