I just called AAS as suggested above, aparently any car registered after 01 needs to have a cat so they cant make a decat pipe :S Im happy with a replacement cat for the time being anyway, planning on replacing the whole system....just not yet :)

i would have just gone down there and explained diesels dont need a cat , , petrols needed them from around 1992 onwards
loads of place do custom work , they then get you to sign a disclaimer saying they cant get done ,

they would say that on phone just incase

To make a decat they use the existing cat, just cut it out and weld a pipe in the middle. Apparently it costs more if you have a while new unit fabricated.

My place in Darlo just removed the cat, made a pipe up on the machine, clamped one end, and welded the other end.

However, I sent another member from as different forum there to have the same thing done to his Bora and they refused to do it for him. He got it done just like mine at another place in Darlo though.

Thanks crossy! If your speaking from experiance there are they reasonably priced?

AAS are expensive. but they are the best in the North East without a doubt. And you'd be able to tell that when you go in with all the exotica usually parked inside and out. they also have lifetime guarantee etc.

Powerflow are pretty cheap. But everyone i know go to AAs regardless of price..

ok thanks, will be paying them a visit sometime through this year! remap is top of the cards at the moment...

PD tuning in Boldon me thinks...

Heard bad things about them! Mate had his 1.7Sri Corsa there for mapping and they well and truly screwed it up. Bad customer care too. Id recommend P-torque!

I can get you a stage 1 map, Digitec (used by Mercedes) for about £200ish. Or Custom Code, one of the sponsors here have a good deal on at the minute - think it's 30% off

Thanks for all the tips guys, need to read some reviews before giving up £2/300. Also just noticed a little whine under acceleration...possibly coming from the gear box, can't hear it when in neutral....uhoh!!
